Oh for god's sake don't say that. We don't need more whining nonsense here. Let him go wait for SC: that's great. I'm waiting for it too!
Looking back at his recent forum activity it seems his chief complaints are lack of ships at the moment and the fact that he was killed for unpaid fines, which I'm guessing turned into bounties?
He also went on a tirade, slinging names and naughty words around.
I'm also a SC backer. I don't see why both games can't be enjoyed.
In fact, I'm not sure if I missed something but I literally read next to nothing about Elite Dangerous (old Elite player, C64) and I just bought it and somehow I knew not to expect a completed game because I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it was still under development.
This is from the Store, which makes it pretty obvious the game is still being developed:
This release of Elite: Dangerous will not mark the end of development. We intend to continue expanding the game both with new content and new features. A good example of this is planetary landings. We have an ambitious goal for landings to include new gameplay and a rich variety of worlds to explore. To achieve our goal we want the planets to come to life. We also want to add leaving the ships so you can explore space stations or board enemy vessels or even just to look around your own. We intend to release small, free updates but major expansions including rich new features will be charged for, unless you have bought the expansion pass
I'm a backer for SC too. I'm playing and enjoying both games in their not quite complete states.
Nah in SC you can get your ship back, for the low, low cost of $1,500.
That's not really true. Pledging in SC will automatically unlock various ships for you (as well as the game itself) when you start the game but all ships in SC can be purchased in-game with in-game currency which you obtain by playing the game much like ED.
As far as insurance, ships aren't quite free depending on the insurance you've purchased. And definitely not free, if you have no insurance. Again though, this is speaking in terms of in-game currency.
All in all, I've been waiting for A LONG TIME for games of this magnitude to be released, plus I'm an old Elite fan as well. And now after all this time spent with lack-luster space sims we get two? How great is that?
