Why destroy a fellow player when there is zero gain?

Communication is the key to all ills.

You enter a system and you check human activity you better communicate if you don't want to be a usual suspect.

- or else -

Guns hot, going in !
Do not intend to be shot first.

Gladly it only happens once in a full moon, but only 1 in every 5 humans that cross our home system ever communicates. It is a shameful behaviour and it leads to "pre emptive defensive" stances.

Which just shows their initial estimates of what counts as a discouragement needs to be adjusted up. The there are also the things players can do like putting that PvP player on ignore. Eventually, if enough players do this then the PvPer will find his target numbers fade away. But yes, ED may need to increase financial penalties. Fortunately, a lot of PvP bad guys love to brag about how they pick on much weaker players so it is easy to gather evidence in support. In fact, your post above will be added to the pile of evidence.

I play open and have yet to have a poor experience as the one by the op
Indeed. I only play open and the few cases where I was attacked unprovoked I was able to drive the attacker away most of the time (4 pips in SYS, boost, shield cell, turn around and giving them everything I've got; close battles usually, but as they're nearing 0% hull they boost away and go SC.) The two times I got killed, I didn't mind at all. It's one of the reasons I play the game.

I don't know. I just have really almost zero patience for people who complain about this :-/

Putting people on ignore in the game. Another completely backwards game mechanic in my opinion. I feel like the game is run more like a chat room. Unbelievable.

And what is the name of the condition forcing some people to equate in-game behaviour with psychological issues outside the game? :p
Playing Monopoly must be super fun with some of the people here.

ahahahaha Jukelo.

The very same explanation work for ELITE as it does for any other open non-character game, for example DayZ SA.

I am playing a character in a game universe. I will play it as I design it. It is no reflection from RL. It is a game that provides me, as a player, with a multitude and infinite choice of action.

If you like to reflect your own personality and "reality" into your "game characters" it is all good and your choice. But for the sake of sanity, don't start psychoanalysis in a virtual world...

Good fun. Then computers shut down and back to the real deal :)

It's pretty obvious what AWOX is by the context you mentioned it. I've thought someone might do it. The thing is, thast despite being a pro-PVP player myself, I'd have you banned for imposing YOUR rules upon others. Then you caomplain about rules agreed by a group of players.

It very well could have been fear. Did you kw scan him? Did you have one on board?

Who are you kidding?

Players with bounties on them play in Solo mode until they reach the space station and can clear their bounty.

Then they return to Open Play to prove their 'elite' skills by attacking and killing random players, most likely in Haulers, before they go back to Solo mode to clear their bounty again.

Get real.

Red Fox, you explain that in too much detail sir. I can only assume that the "Players with bounties" might be you, given you describe your operational method so thoroughly.

Thanks for sharing.

Question, why do top bounties in systems and in factions are players then ? Get "real" in game. Many players play the game. Other dregs game the game.

Have fun.

OP, he killed you because you were competing for his resources. Sharing or not you were killing targets he could have been killing. Economics, buddy.

Actually this. Its a harsh world out there. This whining on forums makes me want to go out there and kill someone just for the forum whine I can read afterwards. If OP said it was not very nice I would agree.

Thread re-opened. The topic is alternative reasons to attack other players, and some interesting points have been made! Please stick to that topic and address people politely even when you disagree with them :)

To kill innocent players who have spent agess of careful flying and planning it's not nice. (I'm using restrained words because i can't call them what i really think of them)
Thats why i play solo only, unless there is an event or I'm with people I trust.

No, it's not me. I actually play in Open Play for the majority of my playtime except when the servers are having hiccups.

But I have been around the galaxy with a KW scanner and an FSD interdiction module. Finding wanted players is quite hard. I've been high and low, in high population and low population, in nav beacons, conflict zones and extraction sites as well as zipping around in supercruise. I've been to Democracies, Feudal, Dictatorship and Anarchy systems.

And the simple fact is... you rarely ever find players with Wanted status. Sometimes you find a poor Sidewinder with a 200 cr bounty, most likely because he got his pants in a twist while trying to dock or undock and spent too much time around the access corridor. I don't really count those as 'wanted' players though.

So where are these wanted players then?

You tell me.
