haha thats nice i will remember that :D i like to see the game developin any kind of pvp its great for everyone , but im sorry for you because im not a trader type so i guess i will be on a viper forever... xD

Death it is then, very well!
You will remember this day...

Indeed, it's open. But.....if you get interdicted and run straight away then what do you expect, a pirate is there wanting your goods.... You take your chances though aye....for those who didn't fly off he was asking for 10% cargo...10%! One guy who he blew the cargo hatch off and dropped lots of rares was asked to come back and reclaim most of his cargo....that's kinda nice of a pirate really!

I have no problem with what he was doing, at all. It's open play, thats the chace you take. No problem.

It was the transition from "Wooohoooo! This is awesome!" to "Aww man, this is weak" I found irksome. Not some Pirate/PVP hell-raiser out for a bit of lootin' and fightin' - just big ship pilot on a bug stomping cruise.

Sounds like a great example of the game mechanics working. Pirate breaks law -> gets bounty -> bounty gets bigger -> starts getting more attention.

Even if 5vs1 isn't "fair", you can be pretty sure he expected a scenario like this to come. He could've retired and paid the bounty to take the heat off.

Unpleasant must have been watching a different stream to me, that's for sure.

Initially he was interdicting pilots and asking for them to drop 10% of their cargo and only occasionally disabling/destroying fellow pilots who clearly wanted to put up a fight. Even stating how bad he felt when destroying the thrusters of some poor rare goods trader who then released cargo afterwards when they could have just as easily have self destructed without releasing anything. This just goes to show how there were no hard feelings from the losing pilot.

The latter part of the stream was pretty much people coming to claim the bounty so he was on the defensive. People attacked and as such were dispatched.

It was actually nice to see people team up by using the low energy wake to enter the fight but it kinda sucks for rote1 to get his potential 500K pay day sniped.

I probably started watching after that then, because I never saw him ask anyone for cargo.

I saw him dock for repairs once, after being interdicted several times by the same cobra.
I saw him kill an ASP that clearly said in comms "I surrender". I heard him giggle about it, saying how he felt really bad and only wanted to leave the guy on 1% hull.
I saw he kept dropping his target so he could keep shooting a viper that used chaff, which doesn't seem very sportsman like and is a little sly in itself.
I saw a python ruin his day, then I saw a viper ruin it even more.
Then I heard him QQ about it being a weak kill and unfair.
Then I did a big hearty belly laugh.

I do agree, there should be some kind of change made to who gets the kill on real ships maybe it should go to who's been doing sustained damage the longest.

It would be great if we could use that little screen between our legs to view streams from other ships.

Agreed, and he was completely ok with people posting a link to the stream on here. I'm guessing he was expecting people to come 1v1 him and go mano a mano, so you can see why he was a bit letdown with a 5v1 battle even though he probably expected it.

Gotta say I've planned to do this for some time but I can't wait to give a huge bounty to whichever champion takes me down, its all so fun!

Which is what I did twice. First time he was down to 50% and both times other players joined in, I guess he must have been really wanted ;)

He deserves all he gets lol

Hehe, a man after my own heart.

Great thread... Thoroughly enjoyed reading about what went on, especially since it's possible he was the same pirate who interdicted me twice earlier tonight in quick succession.

He said something about dropping my cargo, but I just boosted away in my Asp and resisted his laser fire with my solid shields and shield cells. I guess I could have dumped a few rares, but it's just the principle of the thing. I hate pirates and enjoy annoying them by forcing them to suck my engine fumes! If there was a guild against piracy, I would happily join it.

Um, he's not crying about how it's unfair he got killed, he's pretty much accepted that he was going to die for a while. Can't really argue with the manner of death being pretty weak though. 5v1, yeah that's something to be real proud of. If he had lost 1v1, then that's an accomplishment.

Were these other 5 also flying the probably most powerful combat ship in the game by a long shot?

Evening everyone.

I was flying one of the other ships (Viper) during the final fight. Here's my story :)

I had encounter the wanted python earlier in the evening at Lave and noticed it had a big bounty (may 200k). I interdicted him and he submitted. He suggested we have a fight until one of our shields were gone. I took up the challenge. We had a pretty good fight and I got his shields low but never down. He eventually brought mine down and we stopped fighting. We had a chat in Comms and I left. Later in the evening I spotted him again in Lave in SC. He opened comms with something like "come and catch me" but I knew I had no chance on my own. His bounty was up to 500k. A few times I saw another CMDR interdict him. One time I followed their low energy wake from SC and he immediately started shooting me. I'm not sure what the other player was doing (Asp I think). I tried to weave and turn and dump chaff but he got my shields down again and took some damage. I think the other player made a go for him them but I was in no state to try again.

After repairing and rearming I went in to SC again and notice another Python (rote1 "Cmdr Wampso Ruukh") who I had seen earlier following him. When it was obvious he was interdicting the wanted Python I watched to see what would happen. When they both dropped from SC I followed the wake. I found rote1 giving the other python a pounding. There were some other ships about but I thought they were all NPCs. I tried to help out and not get in the way. To be honest rote1 was doing fine :) Unfortunately, right before the wanted python was destroyed I accidentally hit rote1. I was immediately "wanted" myself. rote1 stated shooting me and I hit the power and tried to explain that it was a stray shot. We eventually got chatting and I talked about the other player and that neither of us picked up the bounty. We said our goodbyes I and I headed off to Warinda? outpost to pay off the fine.

A couple of comments from my side..
Thanks to the enemy python for agreeing to stop our first fight when shields were down
Thanks to rote1 for the chat after the battle and understanding my side when I said I had not hit him on purpose
Thanks to E D for making a great game where things like this can happen :)

Hi all, i was the python causing such chaos in Lave tonight.

I have to say it was great fun and although it was all kind of ad lib i feel it was a great fun night.

Couple of things i have to mention, i went to Lave to break the blockade that i had heard about on the forums and one thing led to another and eventually this pvp mass battle.

I had a deal with a few of my streaming friends that i would have a shot of rum for every shield cell i used and after about an hour or two of playing i had drunk over a pint of rum..lol

Needless to say i was very messy and the stream was not typical of my play style.

I have no ill feelings toward any combatants, have full respect toward all elite gamers and even though i did express my feelings that the end result was a bit weak i really did mean that the finale felt a bit unrewarding in the sense that i wanted to see if i could fight the python 1v1 and win or lose and i had so few shield cells left when the fight came and vs so many enemies it felt almost impossible. Of course vs a Python, 2 vipers and 3 police i died as i could not possibly have enough shield cells to cover that kind of fire power, let alone the fact that players interdicted me every time i entered cruise ;)

It was just a fun pvp experience and i for one really enjoyed it. I expected to die and invited all stream viewers to snipe me. If i wanted to escape i could have easily run to another system rather than return for 3v1 combat over and over in lave but i felt people were having fun and didn't want to spoil the moment.

Worth pointing out that i had just enough to cover the insurance for 1 replacement of the ship, not hundreds of millions etc and each interdiction cost me 40k alone for every 2% damage. In total the event cost me 10 million and i now cannot afford even my insurance but it was worth it as it was such fun, i hope i did not cause others any big losses but i'm pretty sure i didn't.

I'm new to streaming and my giggling on killing players was not meant as an insult to their bravery but instead more down to mass rum and the comments on twitch from viewers.

Thx to all that watched and massive appreciation to all that took part, I salute every commander i fought and I respect your skills.

ps..i did ask all commanders i interdicted for cargo and only 10- 20 % of it, the only commanders i attacked on sight were those that attacked me without saying a word -which was the majority- and those that had already fought me several times throughout the night. As for a Commander which said "i surrender" and i killed that was 1-2 seconds of mouse clicking which i didn't mean to do, regretted it a lot and i have offered to drop cargo for the costs of their hull, also they are a regular viewer of my stream and we are friends so i'm sure they didn't really hate me for it.

Hope to do another attempt at pirating some day soon, this was my first attempt and i for one had a blast. :)

Fly safe commanders.

I spent a couple of hours this evening hunting for him, docking FS in and out of the system trying to land in the same island with him, never managed it though.

Fly Safe SubSynk, We'll meet one day...

Yeah, that was awesome fun. I've got some great video of our two battles!

I didn't have Fraps recording for the middle interdiction, but that was just three minutes of me running away... so no great loss! I would have liked to have got your "Run rabbit, run" comment on video, as it would have made a nice book-end with my echoed "Run, rabbit, run" back at you when you bugged out the next time! :D:D:D

That "three against one" dust-up (me, another Cobra, Viper engaging you) was put together in a totally ad hoc manner, via text comms with local CMDRs. It's certainly doable, but a lot of the mechanics are still pretty damn clunky. I look forward to the rough edges being tidied up in 2015.

I'll put up the vids in due course!
