I am going to shoot you !!

<edit> and Liqua... if you REALLY have not understood the meaning of my posts in this thread, I STRONGLY advise you to read (dissect) them again. I don't mind explaining myself, but sheesh... such negative arbitration for no goddam reason! I mean COME ON! You can't be THAT naïve man!

It started off as a few posts by yourself taking a strong approach, I quoting you and adding a final comment that I guess was taken the wrong way and it has escalated from there.

Perhaps a poor choice of words by myself

Perhaps a misinterpretation by yourself.

Sadly though we are where we are.

If you have a point, don't make it. I've said all I want to say on this issue and to be honest, you've ruined my enjoyment of this thread and expressing my opinions within it. Bickering with you about who said what/when/why isn't the best waste of time I can think of right now.

If you know and appreciate what alpha and beta testing is for and you take it as seriously as I do, we wouldn't be having this type of conversation. I'm done.

and you take it as seriously as I do

I believe that to be the issue ..

It's a game, not a career, and if people want to pledge to a tier that gives them early access that's their right. It shouldn't affect you, nor your enjoyment of the testing process, but expecting everyone else to behave and act like you is quite OTT. It certainly wasn't my intention to make you feel bad as I simply wanted you to see another point of view, but from that comment above I now realise it was futile which was my mistake - I apologise for that part.

Yes, I know what I've previously written and thanks for HIGHLIGHTING things ONCE MORE for me. If alpha and beta testing isn't taken seriously by all those involved, Frontier might as well release the game and forgo any testing. It would be a WASTE OF TIME for all involved if nobody intended to TEST during alpha and beta TESTING but did intend to play the game as if it was under public release.

Sometimes I wish I'd crawled out of a shallower part of the gene pool.

<edit> of course THEY DON'T HAVE TO... but what a WASTED opportunity if they DIDN'T!!!!

you are aware this is all in your head, yeah?

you are the one claiming to know exactly what Frontier expect from the alpha and beta testers. There has been no official word on what they want us to do. You don't know. Maybe they will say "play as if it's real, we want to see how it goes". Maybe they will say "can you test x y and z."

Until they do, I don't think you should be telling us all how to behave.

Furthermore you seem to be under the impression everyone has been saying they are going to treat it as the final release. Read back. I think most people have been saying they are interested in seeing how various mechanics work. Even those that have said they'll be having fun with it have said they'll be on the lookout for bugs too.

basically: chill dude! It's only a game!

:)

oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear !!! What has happened here.......it all started off so well and then really started to spiral down.

Well, looks like all is said and done so this is what we're all going to do, we're going to move on with this and we're not going to keep sniping or taking actions that might be construed as baiting the other......

Excellent........... now back to regular programming.

oh, just one more thing........

It has not gone un noticed some people may be baiting others into a response.

Let me bring back to people's attention the following from the forum rules and guidelines.

http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3616

"You must not
- Be insulting to any person through obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory comments in order to bait other users into responding. This is also known as trolling or flame-baiting."

Thank you for your attention. We now return you to regular programming.

I thought that this was a good thread until the arguments .. I just wanted to know what people intended to do in the Alpha and beta's ... :) ... sorry 'bout that!

Personally i'm hoping they give me 10million credits to test out the system for buying ships...Then i'll buy an anaconda and deck it out with lasers and shields and go and explore unknown space :p

Seriously, though, yes we'll be testing lots of things to make sure the system works and any loopholes or glitches we come across we'll report back to FD.

the good thing about having lots of beta testers is that those involved will organise themselves to some degree. There will be a wide distribution of interests and styles.

You'll have those that want to test the minutiae of everything, checking for bugs by docking a 1000 times, each time slightly differently.

Those that are concerned with aspects such as player cheating, or grieving, who will want to convince themselves that the system is set well up for that.

Even those that 'just play' will be feeding back their thoughts, on whether certain ships are too easy, or that their shields are too weak compared to certain lasers. Etc Etc Etc.

Just by participating in A or B you are helping to load test the servers.

Personally I’m looking forward to seeing the game, of course any faults I spot I will report back but mainly I want to see how it all fits together first hand :)
