The high cost of a Python

Stick with D modules except the A class FSD, use an undersized power module. Not that expensive then, and it has decent jump range.

Best fit i've found is highest power distributer you can afford, with C6 shields. That can take a full frontal assault from an anaconder with one pip to systems and lose only one ring of shields :)

edit: might be C6 shields, can't remember and not at home atm
edit2: it is C6 shields :D

Got my python, but had to spend the majority of my spare cash on an A class FSD to make my usual trade route. That meant i had a few trade runs before i could up the shields and put some teeth in in.
Typically, i was interdicted by an anaconda. Shields went down and one shot later my FSD charge was halted due to low power. Switched a few modules off, and finally jumped away.
50% hull = 900,000 credit repair bill.

I'm now sporting a few million credits worth of 'teeth', and i don't know if i'm dreading the next interdiction (repair bills) or excited by it (toasting the pirates)...

I'm also debating the benefits of the A3 fuel scoop over more cargo space. Per run the scoop has better returns, but flying round a sun for 5 minutes makes each run longer.

First, use a B4 shield cell bank and lowly anacondas won't be an issue anymore. 2nd, use a size 4 fuel scoop and it's much quicker than a size 3. Seconds instead of minutes to scoop.

If you're spending *minutes* scooping, you should probably ditch the scoop and just pay for fuel. Your profit per hour is what's important, not profit per run. In my case, I would have to top off in 15 seconds or less with an A3 scoop to make it more profitable than just buying fuel (and an A3 scoop can't do it in that time). An A4 scoop would sacrifice more profit worth of cargo space than the fuel costs outright, so I just suck it up and buy the fuel. Granted, my run is fairly short and I can run it quickly, but, it's probably worth crunching the numbers if you're interested in maximizing your income.

Last night i was doing 600k an hour with just bounty hunting, while not as good as trading, is much more fun.

Blimey - Are these missions or just 'found' targets?
Not seen any bounties over 45k and it takes me a good couple of hours to rack up 100k... unless this includes KWS'ed bounties too? Really gotta get me one of those...

But... But... My cargo space!

A scoop is often usefull when exploring. When trading, try to calculate if the scoop is cheaper in your case. If you can make 20 runs on one tank, and use a class 4 scoop, then you loose 16 (class 4 rack) * 20 (runs) * 1000 (avarage profit) = 320.000 credits. If refueling costs you less (which I deem highly likely), then bin the scoop and buy fuel. Really.

A class 3 scoop will replace an 8 ton rack, it will set you back 160.000 in profit over 20 runs.

I'm rather liking that upgrades for the Python don't come easy.
It's nice to have something to work towards ;)

And thanks to the posters for outfitting details, it's rather expensive to experiment with :)

Some hunter missions on top when they come up, also the pirate hunting missions ( take these as i am going hunting anyway :) ) but generally just at nav point(s). Biggest bounty i've had so far is 92k, which was an annaconda generally see an average of 5-15k though

The Python is cool! It has that "Cobra feeling" with serious weapons.

This is why I want a Python.
I have a feeling it's exactly what I prefer.
The Anaconda got fairly close to my idea of a Bentley Mulsanne with monster lasers but I reckon the Python might be just the thing.

My Python was the first ship I got into that made my jaw drop. It is pure awesome, and I'm only using mine to grind out some trading at the moment. Once I get a bit more cushion saved up, I will outfit her for combat and see what that's like.

If I'm bored, I tend to go into a anarchy system with no stations and find the rings around a gas giant, then just hang around close to them. NPC will spawn regularly (like 5 seconds between them), and many yield high bounties (condas, pythons, etc). I guess you could make 1M/hour or so, but it's a bit up and down. Make sure to use a KWS.

You guys seem to forget that upgrade costs help to reduce the overall price of your next ship, and that fact appears to be the driving force behind the actual cost of parts.

A Python's next upgrade is an Anaconda, which is 150 million, so it's a pretty obvious fact that the Python's primary equipment will cost around 50m.

Simply put, upgrading to an a-grade FSD in your Python could be slashing a 3rd off the price of an Anaconda, or could even single-handedly give you a trade in cost of a Type-9 with 30million plus to spare.

Pretty sure the Anaconda's price doesn't look quote so daunting when you're flying a Python with a trade-in value of 100,000,000.

Unless you accidentally pop in space, of course ;)

Rumor has it FDEV will nerf it as it's too much fun to fly, and we can't handle all that fun!

Largest bounty seen so far was 94k on an anaconda. It nearly fried my eagle and did not care about my dumb fires at all. When I was out of dumb fires and the hull of the conda was not impressed I leaved that thing alone. Quite a beast to the 30k condas I did before that in this eagle.

Outside of that, with missions you spike at around one mil per hour, at least in the systems I use to do assassination missions and bounty hunting with my viper. There must be better missions somewhere, because those anacondas have just about 50k bounty on their head and no punch to their lasers, so there still room to reach my 100k bounty conda. The one ship I could not kill. The only ship so far. The one ship I would call my nemesis.

Why a system with no stations? How is that different to a normal anarchy system?
