Shameless list of CMDR pseudonyms

Now i understand everything is relative, which is a good reason not to rigidly apply a rule with complete disregard of it's intended purpose. Name and Shame is there to protect those who need to be protected, those who are learning the game and those who for some reason can't play the game to the same "acceptable" level of others because of various reasons.

Name and Shaming has it's place, an important one, and you obviously don't understand it. It's a multiplayer game set in a ffa pvp environment. Nothing

with antisocial behavior in a game that ask for it, it could actually create groups of people who want to fight against/for those very thing you seem to think are wrong. No one is going to make friend with someone else by reading "generic name" just did this to me, no one is going to say hey he got me too im going to contact the other dude so we can get proper revenge. RolePlaying cant be achieved without existing ingame. There is a solo mode and a coop/group mode for those who are averse to pvp environment too.

Now when you get a guy that comes on the forum and says "lol just killed DAYLEET repeatedly lolo he is so bad in his sidey he dont even know how to deploy weapons lolol he ask what was the button but u no fk him" now thats name and shaming and that's not being sport at all.

When someone says, "Fk DAYLEET boosted through the letterbox YET AGAIN and this time hit me and i died, so sick of his **** if anyone sees him please kill him" Now thats not name and shaming, it's a sign an online community is healthy and trying to work together.

Anyway sorry if i offend anyone here but ive always played in pvp environment and this is what i learned from that.

As for tarnishing reputation, well better luck next time and you can always shine it back to it's former glory, no one is immune the consequence of his act.

You seem to totally miss the point and assume that everything posted on the forums is accurate, honest and without agenda. Renember that there are two sides to every story and not everyone visits the forums regularly enough to be able to defend themselves from accusations of griefing etc.

Suppose i take a disliking to you for whatever reason. I could easily come on these forums and accuse you of griefing or cheating. I could even get my friends to lie on my behalf. You might not even see the thread and so have no opportunity to defend yourself.

Next thing you know you are being attacked or griefed by players who read my posts and now hunting you down, while other players are adding you their block list. That's not really fair is it?

I'm not questioning the motive behind this, I'm questioning the technical sense of it. Names won't just miraculously change to pseudonyms.

Andrew, if the cmdr comes in and ID's himself is it OK then to assume usage of the real name. I understand why its in place but for the sake of forum banter and a good story I Dont mind being identified, especially if I ID myself.

I've now updated the OP with some names from the thread, and left out some other great ones for people to find reading through :)

I've also tried to clarify the motivation. Essentially the mod team is offering up a technique for people at risk of getting an unnecessary infraction for telling us about their Elite: Dangerous experience. This isn't a mandatory thing, and we'll still examine these things on a case-by-case basis. If you have a way to avoid naming and shaming that works better for you - for example by identifying yourself in someone else's story - then you should do whatever works in your situation.

CMDR Repton Jameson - a combat-oriented miner and explorer who hangs around resource extraction sites, collecting precious items and likes luring his enemies into rocks. Flies with upgraded thrusters so that material can be shuffled around with ease. When not flying forward, has a habit of looking at his side monitors frequently. (For best results, uses tracking hardware or Oculus Rift. ;))

CMDR Ace Jameson - smoke him a kipper skipper, he'll be back for breakfast...

I think Frontier is making a big mistake in not allowing CMDR names anywhere in the forum. This is not the way to encourage a community, in my opinion.

How can you have a community where everyone is anonymous? This is the wrong path.

I think you should make a new sub forum. Call it Pilots lounge or something, where names can be spoken.
