Yesterday I bought an ASP, fitted it with a few million credits worth of upgrades to trade, and began to build up my money back. I realized I mis-calculated the amount of credits needed to fit the cargo hold of 128 tons, so I had to fly without insurance.
I've done this many times, I knew the risk, I knew that one mistake would make me lose everything. So I begin earning money..
After a few runs, getting close to being able to fly with insurance, and still getting used to the ASP's speed compared to the T6. I found myself overshooting right before entering the station slot, I braced for impact...and...poof.
I lose around 10-11mil and pretty much all progress with trading, however I did have a cobra stored in another system.
I'm not going to say I didn't mad, but I also realized that I was grinding too hard, I would become bored shortly with this blind trading. So in a way, losing my progress helped me plan my goals better, I'm doing trading runs in the cobra until I can get a T6 again, and shortly afterward I will outfit the cobra for some real fun, and take a break by bounty hunting or even pirating.
My point of this is, despite losing almost everything, I will eventually have more fun in the end. Don't think of this as losing all of your progress, think of this as a new beginning, now you know what you want to do, so go out and have fun, no one is forcing you to get a fully equipped Anaconda and quit the game because you have nothing left to buy.
