They also have a lot of features to implement. And a patch release is not a simple thing with no cost. So mostly any release has also test traject and includes much more sign off progress not just one thing. Often done with bunch of bugfixes and flightmodel work and new implemented feature. This means that the first thing that has been done isn' t directly avaible but much later when there is enough to make patch . Unless there are critical bugs.

Overall, after some very deep concerns last summer, I have to say that with every new bit of info about Star Citizen I see, I am becoming more and more positive about it. I am really looking forward to further enhancements in Arena Commander, the FPS alpha, and planetside module and I am really hoping the first episode of SQ42 can be released later this year, and it lives up to my ever increasing expectations.

In 10 for the Chairman, episode 50, one of the interesting news is that the Retaliator will be the first multicrew ship in Arena Commander (see around 15:40)!

The CIG forum has decended into the murky world of VAT
apears that the EU has decided that digital products are to be taxed based on the location of the buyer
depending on country the ships SOLD to players in the EU are going to cost 20%+ more

Probably a really good move by CIG - this way they can test stuff with far more users, and hopefully nail down problems quicker. And calling it the "Public Test Universe" will mean folks know exactly what they are signing up for when they go into it.
I'll not be participating though, well at least not yet. I'm gonna wait for the 1.1 release and take it from there.

so it has nothing to do with the PU? lol

Isn't releasing a PTU right now very premature?

I mean were supposed to test the patches of an alpha Arena Commander version?

Squadron69 is scheduled for somewhere in 2016.
PU is a much more complex and different beast.
I wouldn't expect it nowhere near 2017.

You could at least get the name right when you blatantly spread false information. It's Squadron 42. And the actual release schedule is as follows:

Chris Roberts speaks in the first Games Masterclass (video is 2.5 hours long) at BAFTA in LA, yesterday:

Now you have a choice, test the early patch versions, or wait until it becomes part of the next main release.
I think this may be down to CIG not wanting to upset those who have waited a very long time for something playable (and are not really interested in testing).
I think it's a smart move, those who are well up for testing the latest stuff can do so, those who just want to play, can play the stable version.

Also, getting the PTU channel in place now, will help iron out any deployment issues for when the FPS beta and planetside stuff needs to go into public testing.

Ok so the PTU is nothing more then a testing area for AC but by adding U to it they make it seem like its more. So we now have a testing version of the test version of AC? So will we get a test version of the test version of the test version? If CIG are releasing a test version of AC that means that CIG think that AC is more finished/polished then just merely a testing bed like people thought.
