Community Event / Creation PODCAST - And Here The Wheel

Hi Everyone

The first half of episode 10, suitably titled 'Episode 10A' is live over at www.andherethewheel.co.nz and very shortly afterwards at iTunes.

In this episode Commander John Harper goes in search of some manuscript quality paper to print his novel on, and his search takes him through the Tianve system.

while on the hunt, the DDF, development diaries and 'And Here The Wheel' progress are all covered.

Hope you enjoy. The second half should be out in the next few weeks, but is dependent on someone else finishing their particular project. :)

Thanks,

John

Hi Jeff

Thanks for the support. All bucks appreciated. I'm still shooting for an audiobook version of the novel.

Almost half way there, Zplintz, though the money is coming in as pounds and I would lose a bit to transfer to New Zealand Dollars then lose a bit to download it to a real bank account. Paypal are rich ******s, I tell you.

How much more do you need? I remember you thought 2,000 would cover the costs, how much do you need.

We're looking to help boost your takings.

First one of these that I watched (I'm not good at watching or listening to podcasts). But I must say that I enjoyed the look into the mind of the writer and what sorts of questions you have to deal with and how the alpha reading process happens in practice. Very good stuff! :)

I was late backing John (an honest oversight of course), but perhaps there are others out there that didn't back And Here The Wheel early on (when everything was so busy) that might now be able to provide a much needed boost to the stretch goal for the audio book?

That's right, it was around the 2K mark to hire the facilities for two days. If everything was nailed down and we just went in there and said our lines and got out it would probably be about two days (probably 8 hours of reading, juxtaposed with various people doing the reading, etc, although that is a bit of a guess).

Roughly speaking I'm around five hundred pounds at the moment, which is about $1000NZD. I've been pretty impressed by the number of people who have jumped on board after the fact. I know the fact that I Was using Indiegogo was too much of an obstacle for some people. Hopefully now that everyone knows that I have actually delivered a novel (to alpha readers) there shouldn't be any fear of non-delivery.

The only question is: "Do you think I would write a story awesome enough to back?"

Maybe I should ask around the alpha readers for some cover quotes? ;)

Before reading any further please note that I am no relation to, am not employed by and have never met the author... ;-)

Having read the story as an Alpha reader I can say that it would lend itself very well indeed to audio form and if there are people out there reading this and are wondering if it is worth chipping in to get the eBook at least I'd say...

DO IT!

I thoroughly enjoyed it and, although my recommendation doesn't really mean anything, do bear in mind that I read an "unpolished" version and still found it to be a complete page-turner.

Get involved, back it, turn it into an audio book and accept my grateful thanks when I have the opportunity to drive to work with it playing on a CD in my car. :) :)

Episode 10B 'It's all pretty Fantastic'

Hi team,

At last, we have Part 2 of Episode 10 available for listening.

Drew and I have a (long) chat about Elite:Reclamation, our joint publisher Fantastic Books, space battles and a bunch of other writery stuff.

If you want to know what is going on in the heads of the two most active writers, then this is the episode for you!

Plus Drew and I have a battle of thumbwar. Who will be the victor? Tune in to find out.

Jamieboo from the forums also provides the outtro music and we have a bit of a discussion about his latest composition.

Hope your enjoy it.

Cheers,

John

Woot! - great news, downloading now.....

You guys are just so macho - can't wait to hear how the thumbwar turned out.

Super podcast John, some interesting points well made. Amazing information about the missing writers too.

Drew needs a tad more TW training I think. Maybe get him working out to Eye of the Tiger for the return match?

Alpha complete

Finished the Alpha today, work and life in general really slowed me down.

Really enjoyable read. :)

Even after an enforced break about a third of the way through, although the fact I was able to pick back up with the characters and continue on to the end after a prolonged break proves to me how they had already become familiar to me by that point. :D

Well done! Looking forward to the final edit.
