Python weapons

I am very close to buying a Python & am curious as to the best weapons layout. Also, a 'make do for now' set-up if anyone has some suggestions. Cash will be tight as I can just about afford the insurance, cargo upgrades & some stock to get me going. What should I be aiming for?

Thx in advance for any replies
Klab :)

I use 3 gimballed pulse on the large and some kind of fixed weapons on the medium, usually railguns or plasma accelerators. Enjoy the Python while you can, it's a great ship but it's being nerfed to the ground soon.

Clearly someone had a hard time understanding the patch notes and "nerf". i was confused as well but there is nothing to worry about with the python

Currently running 1 lg fixed beam and 4x medium multi cannons. Puff magic dragon, or a specter gunship. Quite happy with the setup.

I did play with a 2x large turret beam, 1 lg cannon in the nose on a gimbal and 2x gimball multi cannons. Not bad either but the turrets require care or you get wanted by the law fast, shooting the sheriff and the deputy

Yeah, just make another 10 mil or so over what you actually need, then do it...it's only another day or so....patience :)

I've stopped with the endless grind to get to a target for now, I just aim for another 1 mil or so in my T7 then go shoot stuff in my viper for a bit, it's a slower process but much more bearable! Currently nowhere near a python though, upgrading to A rated in my Asp....

Where did you find that large gimballed cannon ?

Three fixed class three pulse lasers, two fixed class two beams. Alternatively, the lower class three could be a burst laser. That results in a heavier hit but less staying power. On a maxed out ship, three pulse lasers can almost shoot forever.

2 x C3 Gimballed Beams, 1 × C3 Gimballed Pulse and 2 x F2 Gimballed Multicannons.
Exactly my setup.

You wont hit anything smaller than a Conda/another Python with that, and even then you need to be pretty close to make use of all the lasers.

He didnt, because there are no class 3 gimballed cannons in the game. Only turrets and fixed.

I am currently using 3 large gimballed pulse lasers as my primary weapons, and 2 medium fixed cannons as extra damage against other Pythons and Anacondas.

3 fixed class 3 pulse lasers, and 2 class 2 gimballed... CANONS. Boy they are fun. I really this setup. Now I have something to take down the shields and then rip the hull to shreds with those canons. If the target uses chaff, just continue with the lasers. Nothing gets the time anymore to jump out. Those canons really mean business.

This is completely incorrect. Stop spreading disinformation. You can hit an Imperial Figher at 2.5k or at 500 meters. Fact.

Nose C3 - 1 x Fixed C3 Beam Laser
Wing C3 - 2 x Gimbled C2 Multi-Cannon
Wing C2 - 2 x Gimbled C2 Multi-Cannon

The beam lets me rip shields quite fast and guns take out armor really fast.

i think he means the C3 gimbled beams, you can find them at high tech stations.

1 lg cannon in the nose on a gimbal
Does that look like a beam to you?

Its completely correct, the hardpoints are too spread out to make fixed weapons viable on the Python against smaller ships. Of course if you only mean to use the two medium beams at the same time, then sure you can hit a Imp Fighter from 2.5km.

If you wish to prove me wrong, post a video of Python using all fixed weapons against anything. And we'll all have a laugh and see how that goes.

I'm running three fixed beams on my large hard points and have no trouble hitting Eagles at 1.5km with all three beams. I seem to do a better job of it than gimbaled beams, which is why I stuck to fixed. I do use gimbals on my multicanons, though, because I suck at properly leading those things.
