New ship: Vulture

The stats look cool, looks like you could outfit it for bombing runs on capships and large cruisers, and fly in a wing with friends in vipers and eagles running interceptor duties.

for those concerned about it, 2 large hardpoints + a bigger power distributor will contend pretty well with the Asp, the main thing you're missing out on with large hardpoints is the ability to run projectile weapons for reduced energy costs.

If it maneuvers like an eagle thats already a pretty amazing advantage really, on paper it sounds fine. I'd expect it to regularly beat an asp, but not 100% maybe 80/20

your thought seems very logical to me, ever for the name ... 'vulture' sounds like an opportunist light assault ship instead of a big heavy trader or whatever..

I think we have a winner

still, i think is a bit too wide for my taste as a fighter i expect more compactness

The power priority system was implemented for a reason. It was never our intention to let you power absolutely everything (especially the most hungry stuff) at once without some compromise.

This is exactly one of the design decisions that I think work very well along with the mass differences of parts.
A full A parts ship isn't just the "best" and only option.

most of the time i wonder, how many of the people speculating about a ship that doesn't even exist have actually tried an "unbalanced" PvP fight.

just as in the python debate: try it. multiple times. against different opponents. then raise your voice.

These stats look intriguing to me. I am not too worried about the power plant because I will most likely put a pair of class 3 pulse lasers on it, they are the most power-efficient lasers, and then use A5 shields and A5 thrusters. It also looks like it would cost about the same as an Asp to buy and outfit which means... I should start saving up. :D

Seems a very interesting ship, the daddy of the viper. Right now I have the largest beam weapons I can fit onto my Cobras medium slots and they mess up small ships really fast. I can't imagine the fear these ships will give you when they rock even larger weapons or smaller ones that can last longer....

I can't really wait for this ship

The more I look at that hunter pic and look at the stats the more I need it

A hint to a release window would be cherry on top now

Do you think it will be in 1.1?

What a bummer. Eventough they are large, I don't think this ship will be better at combat than an ASP with 2 Lasers & 4 Multicannons.

Bear in mind that your 4 multicannons are small - so ineffective on medium to large ships

The large hardpoints on the vulture will be effective on large ships and probably quite devastating to medium and small ships

I hope and dream that it'll come before 1.1...although I doubt it.
I certainly hope it doesn't come after 1.1 - I already want this ship NOW!

-- Pete.

I know, flying my python immediately felt old as soon as I heard about the vulture

Don't hang your hopes to high regarding the vulture's launch date. It is still labeled as 'concept' and I don't expect it to make it into the game pre 1.2.

The Fer-de-Lance, however, was already featured in a newsletter and is probably way closer to its introduction into the game.

Is the vulture that ship in the top down that was shown? That would imply the render exists at least.

When that came out, I think the Python hadn't been released yet (along with the T7 and Adder), but that was pictured and all but that mystery ship next to the Eagle are in-game now.

When that top down picture came out the whole top row of ships wasn't out, the python, dropship, asp, orca and type 7.
The middle row had the eagle, hauler, cobra and type 6, I don't even think the viper was playable.

I've been calling the bottom left ship the vulture for a while now (the bottom right is the dolphin if anyone was wondering) but still haven't been able to get a dev to confirm it is indeed the vulture.

I think it fits the size described fairly closely though.

Both, Fer-de-Lance and Vulture (especially the Vulture), sound like perfect Ships for "Wings", but I wouldn't get my hopes up that they will be ready for 1.2.

Vulture, hmmm.
Speed lesser than speed of an Eagle. So, it cannot escape from laser-seeker missile ASP. It probably cannot both outturn and outdps an ASP that doing nothing but flying backwards.
4 missiles +2 lasers > C3 cannon + c3 beam Especially when dual chaffs involved. But probably dual c2 dumbfire vulture will have very good chances.

It even cannot escape, as asp can reach 390-400ms speed.

My bud has ganked immense amount of bounty hunting PVE/trade/exploration vessels (without any piracy), missile asp is really something awful.

The asp is about the same speed as an eagle, so it could be very close between the vulture and the asp.
Missiles are getting wacked with the nerf bat.
