Here is a Python beating 3 of us

The longer a fight goes on the more concentration and tired as factors come legitimately into play. I like that. There's nothing to say a fight has to be over in 30 seconds.

Maybe you've missed the threads from other players where they are still fighting after 10 minutes and getting bored? I didn't say anywhere that fights needed to be done in 30 seconds and there's nothing to say a fight has to last more than 30 seconds, either. You also missed my point.

If all an SCB does is elongate a fight then it's meaningless given that both players use them correctly, the outcome will more than likely be the same. Using an SCB just to give you more time because you're getting your ass kicked? It's a crutch, a get out of jail free card. Fly better if you want to last longer.

If ED want to make engagements last longer, lower the damage done by weapons or up the shield/armour values. Weapons and shields should scale up against ship size, right now it seems as though the Python is too weak.

Well i thought you did a bloody good job.

You got on his six and got him down to a ring with a couple of Class 2 fixed beams.

Have some rep.

Ah,

So many arm chair quarterbacks trying to prove how awesome they are :D.

Unless you can show a video of you being awesome in combat, then you're nothing but a useless bag of hot air ;)

Kudos OP for putting that video up. But I'm sure you've realised it's almost as bad as a youtube comments section here.

I thought the video was excellent a bunch of friends engaging an enemy and getting a whipping. There were no sour grapes, no moaning and it was quite clear that all parties had a bit of fun even though some lost their ships. Great advert for PvP in ED for me.

Man that video... I was rooting for the little guys but each time I saw you lining up the perfect shot and thought to myself "GG python down" you panicked and went back to jousting and I was like "nooo whyyyyyy" q_q

IMHO you should practice fighting NPC Anacondas (or Master and above Pythons, those are even better) with no pips to shield, no shield cells and a chaff dispenser. Get the feel of the speed and how to manage it so you're always in the best position for attack.

Great video, GG's all 'round.

class 1 beams, although I think the class 1 beams are better than the class 2 in that situation. You can fire them for much longer, you seem to get about 60% more damage from the size 2 than size 1, but can only fire for about 8 seconds.

I wish I'd remembered to save footage from my perspective as you'd probably think I was an even worse pilot ;)

I started the fight with 4 pips to shields, and kept them there when I could, went 4 to engines when chasing a runner. I picked a target and stayed with it until it ran and hit 2.75km or so, then switched. If I saw chaff, I delocked and carried on chasing that target.

The Cobra made the mistake of pulling up when running, and didn't have 4 pips to engines so I was gaining on him anyway. That's how I managed to get him, once he was down I knew I'd won it was just a question of killing the other two.

I think had they boosted past me and run away as soon as I started shooting any one of them, I'd never have gotten to kill any of them. Was still a fun fight :)

Against a big ship like the Python higher class weapons are more effective, you are maximising damage when you have guns on target.

But yes, they are power hungry. My 5 beam Python loadout drains an A7 distrib in 3.5 seconds but the DPS is really strong and that is what you need to burn through a Pythons shield.

Interestingly enough, this is precisely the same time I can fire all four of my beam lasers on my Viper.

Haha, no.

People who think this, don't be morons.... The Python is a vastly more expensive ship than the tiny fraction of a cost viper/cobras/asps. Python should do this 24/7 especially against people who use gimballed weapons and have no shield cells.

No way in hell should a ship that takes only part of a day to acquire should have an easy time against a ship that takes weeks and months to obtain.

Too bad this will be the case once the Python receives it's nerf. Do the numbers... its a huge nerf. Frontier you are doing it wrong... listening to the wrong people. RIP Python.

Thanks for the video fergal, always fun to see fights when you don't quite know what's going to happen. Much better than all the "nerf this!" or "I'm so great!" videos that most people post. ;)

You're right about the lasers, in that fight class 2s wouldn't have made a difference since they do the same damage over time once you drain the capacitor. It might have made a difference if you were doing more coordinated attacks to try and break his shields with high bursts of damage before he could fire a cell. Not a massive difference since as you say class 2s do about 60% more than 1s. If you had gotten the shields down however the class 2 cannons would've made a big difference as class 1s suffer a heavy damage penalty against large ship hulls (they only do about 1/3 of their normal damage). But then, if that happened the Python probably would've just jumped out. :p

Woah. This thread is a fine example of people reading what they want to and slavering at the mouth to shoot someone down.

Op kindly puts up a vid showcasing his misadventure with a Python. In response, gets NOOB UR SKILLS IS CRAPZ GO BACK TO A SIDEY NOOB!!!

Anyway, yeah I use fixed class 2 beams on my Viper. I find taking the shield down helps with morale both ways. Once you're down to shredding hull, it emboldens that killer instinct. And in PvP, enemy pilots freak out a bit when their shields go down.

+1 rep OP

They're just upset this is evidence against their case that the Python is a bit overpowered.

Yeah it is a bit OP that is for sure.... though it does not need this massive nerf it's getting. Considering the rebuy cost of the ship and repair bills, it is pretty much going to be useless due to how easy it will be to take down. So if you are smart and don't have that much money you want to throw away... people wont be flying the Python. Look at the numbers, it's a huge nerf.

Also, this is important, take into consideration the HUGE gap between the Viper/Cobra/Asp and the Python. The gap between ships is LARGE, and people seeing themselves getting killed by the Python immediately think it's vastly overpowered. Take care of that gap between combat ships by adding more ships inbetween, and it would not have that view any longer. Again Frontier is handling this very wrong.

When he's asked about the Shield Banks (how many he uses) he answered ....... 3. GF........... what does that mean?

Thanks for sharing! Great.
I read about the Python but now I want one!

Please people... stop assuming that just because a ship is bigger and more expensive that it is more effective in combat than something smaller.

A B2 is enormous and expensive but it would be rubbish in a dogfight against a Spitfire.

Anyone who thinks elite should be about the one spending the most money winning should go play another game.
