Here is a Python beating 3 of us

Then explain why you would ever progress beyond the viper if they nerf everything to be soloed by a viper?

What is the point of spending dozens of hours trading to get into a Python if you are just killed by someone in a viper?

How can you justify the cost?

DERRRRRRRRRRPPPPPP

Because perhaps the game allows you to fly more than the one ship? Because perhaps you want to do something that the viper can't and/or you want bigger guns because it suits your play style?

Anyway, I have soloed player Pythons in a Viper... It's not actually that difficult if you have the ability to anticipate the other pilot.

This typical moronic comments. Of course this game should not be based on more gear means win. It should be only a part of it. This game is stated by the Devs to be "skill-based". With this money=power fully NOT implemented though, there is no progression, and a good game needs some sort of progression. If this game was completely balanced like League of Legends, as you are making it seem, then there would really be no point in acquiring the Python as you wont have to go through weeks of painstaking grinding to get it. Also, being that this game has been stated by multiple devs as a "skill-based game" it should definitely take skill to take on a Python AND the money you invest in your combat experience so this game can have an element of progression.

The video was a good video, but there was a severe lack of combat competence. It's not their fault they were caught with the wrong set up, and not saying they are bad pilots, but they had gimballed weapons equipped and no shield cell. Not a good fight. If those pilots were outfitted right and had the right skill to use the ships... that would be on dead Python. I have fought Nemeth before... he uses gimballed weapons. He's a very easy kill xD

Spending the most money SHOULD be a factor, but not the focus. With this large nerf.. and if similar updates like that occur in the future, this will just become another balanced game like LoL but in space... and with vastly expensive ships that become a waste of time to acquire.

Hi Fenix!! :D

I don't always use gimballed, only the first time I fought you (you were my first PvP fight) and when fitted for NPCs. Often run fixed now :)

PS: I only deleted you from friends as I decided it was highly likely you'd use it to know my location and hunt me :p

How on earth did you make so many Credits? Any tipps? I just crossed the 2 Mio. barrier yesterday bounty hunting my Arsch off in my viper.

Trading man.... tons of mind numbing and mind killing trading.

That is the only way. Go find a good luxury trade or a bidirectional trade between systems.

Always aim for 1500+ profit per ton. with 2 mill you are at the Type 6 level... Just work your way up from there.

It's a long grind, so play some music, watch a stream or movie. Makes your mind sane xD

Is a little rocket boat from 200k usd can beat alone deystroyer worth 25 mln of usd? Not :D
is 20 rocket boats can? maybe.

So there like in real life, python or anaconda should require a cooperation of small craft to be beaten.

Hi Nemeth :D

Sorry for throwing you out like that. I am just trying to make a point this is a skill based game. I know when we fought that was your first time actually fighting. So please do not take what I say as a put down!

I am sure you have been getting much better now as that is only natural in a human being once we practice something. ^.^

Explain why people should play and earn money for better ship, risk flying 100 mln ship with 8 mln rebuy when they can be easly beaten by a 120k and 30k rebuy cost craft ?

No sense to play at all. Get cobra or viper, make some pvp, and end of game.
... sory i have got my cobra from kickstarter, so i can run game, play 5 minutes and close, because it is most powerful ship and it could beat every 100mln ship. Or sell cobra and buy 2 vipers. I will be indestructible...

He just play.

I have about 350mln and i just playing too. It is not magic. Just playing.
It is really simple. He play, spent time in game, so he have better ship.

Sounds reasonable, Dimitri

I don't even know what you are saying here. This really has nothing to do with a python nerf, or the like, but the idea that elite should be about money and not skill is awful. Three better prepared ships would have torn the python a new one. Now with elite mechanics odds are he could have jumped out but still. Added with the speed advantage when it went mammaries up, they could have all just bugged out.

Aye
Sadly, I think the approach to both the Python and the shield cells are wrong (IMO).
The problem isn't that shield cells are ''overpowered'' (not saying that they aren't), but that they simply don't work well. Nerfing them will not help with that, unless you nerf them so much that they are useless, and then you could just remove them from the game instead.

While Frontier are going to ''nerf'' shield cells, it seems like they'll be keeping them as they work now, atleast in the close future.
One way to view the nerf on the Python is that it is supposed to ''balance'' the ship for shield cells (especially the shield strength reduction). That is the wrong approach in my opinion. The problem isn't the ship carrying the shield cells...

Without shield cells, I think this fight would have been a pretty fair one, with both parties having a good chance to win.
I don't see the probleem with a Python being beaten by 3 Vipers either. Python isn't a combat specialized ship, Viper is. Python could have fled whenever it wanted too, Vipers couldn't. That's a pretty serious disadvantage if you value staying alive.
I know that the Python is ridicilously more expensive compared to the Viper, but so what? I can get how many credits I want from algae trading, I just need to spend enough time on it. There's some things you can't get through algae trading, like friends or fighting ability. That is a good thing.

THe fight was still very enjoyable to watch though. I think if I was you, I would try to stay really close and out of his (fixed?) guns. Lasers do more damage at close range, too. I'm not sure how easy it would be to stay ou tof the Pythons guns, though. I'm not very experienced in Viper piloting.

I wonder when we'll gonna see posts requesting that pimped up Sidewinder should take out players in Anacondas because it's small and hard to hit.

Should definitively not be impossible from a game-mechanical standpoint. I would like to see more reasons not to fly ''pimped'' all the time, though. It seems like right now, anything not fully A grade is an ''incomplete loadout'', a fully upgraded ship is basically standard.

Also makes for horrible arguments.
