In conclusion, there will be no solution to the problem. Multiplayer people will always want to force you multiplayer. You, simply, don't care about that.

There is a solution, not so impossible one: sooner or later, this game will be offered as a solo game - no internet, your fixed universe if you're happy with it, and everyone is smiling. It will not come soon, not in a year or two, but I'm ready to bet it will happen. Oh happy day! Multiple saves :)

Hmm, if I want to play solo I will and the other way around, but I will stay in what I started in and not switch. For me I will use solo for training a bit and then delete and start the game for real. But I have nothing bad to say about either choice of play mode really

I, for real, am not disappointed about the always online situation of the game. I like it. It could give in future major interests in playing elite. And also this in solo/PvE for sure. I was thinking that we weren't talking about online/offline questions, but about solo/open playing differences. Offline mode is another question, and if you want to know what I think about that... Well, we are in 2015, we are always connected to the web, this is our modern world. If you want to stay here, these are the compromises you must agree.

...Game has an identity crisis and it's all due to fear of their players. It's so strange lol...

I've seen this rhetoric a few times in recent days.

Thing is, I think the opposite is true. The game and the dev team who created it know exactly what it is - a primarily PvE experience which offers options for people to take part in a massive galaxy-wide space trade/exploration/economic/political/combat simulation. The multiplayer as far as I understand it has always been intended to be more at the co-operative end of the spectrum, with direct player-to-player combat being a less frequent occurrence. The decision to allow all players to have the choice about how they take part (i.e. in solo-online, private groups or open-online) is part of that identity and ethos, and nothing whatsoever to do with "fear".

The only "crisis" is that some players cannot accept the game's identity.

I am honest, cross my heart: the point of this thread is for PvP players to admit they just want to kill more. And then we can talk.

Although I am totally against any form of griefing and non-consensual PvP, I will agree that one of the main reasons to to into the Open Play group is because it is the most free-form. Pretty much anything goes. It is the superset of playstyles group, compatible or not. This is probably why all the flaming.
Now, of course I would never crash a group that had been created for PvE or another style of play and then try to impose my rules on them. But it seems there are many people wanting to crash the Open Group and impose their rules on it.
Now this seems quite strange, and it appears they do this from ignorance. If these people knew how just plain rude it appears to do that I am sure they would reconsider - I think this is part of the reason for the other side of the flaming, people just saying, hang on a minute there, wooohaaaa, steady - if you want to play by different rules fine but don't force that on others.
Of course, there are always the trolls too.

The issue is that credits transfer from Solo to Open. I think FD needs to swallow their pride and separate the two universes. They should split them now and create different saves for each mode. Credits already earned stay, and then only credits earned in Open are available in Open.

while in open play do not apply the same rules as
in real life, not a solo player will switch to the open mode !!!

this means,
1) a murderer loses the insurance of his ship.
2.) a murderer is hunted by the police NPC.
3.) a murderer can only land in Anarchy systems.

Nope! The issue is people thinking it's an issue when it's really not ;)

What else is PVP for? Cant take cargo properly, no reward for killing people, cant stop them or halt their faction progress because SOLO players make the bulk of influence. Really all that is left is killing for fun because FD made it so.

Coming round here with all your well thought out logic... I dunno...

+1 ;)

There are numerous situations when I wish it's offline game. For example, right now, I'm at work. Can not install, nor connect my laptop.

Well said, far away better than me. Rep for the explanation.

Someone here isn't understanding that E: D is (or almost, is what I want to think of it and why I own it) is an evolution of old elite saga. You, MMO players, have to accept that this game is in first grade a discovering and trading game, based on the personal journeys you could have with it. After that, sure, there are some MMO components, interactions with real players and similar, but these are not the core of the game. These addictions are here because we are in 2015, and not in 1994, but they don't transform magically a game that in its base is a single player experience on an MMO. Forget about WoW, about EVE, elite seems not to be that kind of game. It's something different. Call it hybrid, if you want.

SOLO players (and I'll lump GROUP Players in with this crowd as they too can not be subjected to the wondrous benefits of of forced and unwanted player interaction,) are having the greatest influence?

Q.E.D. SOLO and GROUP form the largest set of players, and FD can stop wasting time on OPEN. (Joking!!!)

Do you have any evidence to back that up ?

Yes, you're right with that, I'm at work now too, and could be great to play elite. But I think that I am more satisfied when, in some hours, I finish to work and I come home, I turn on the PC and continue my journey. Often, the waiting is a good part too.

Solo make the bulk of influence do they?

Funny, you're not showing as a member of FD (alt login maybe?).
So lets see your numbers then, let us see the reams of proof you have to back that up.

I swear, this thread gets funnier every day.

Also, why can you not take cargo properly? I've had no problems scooping cargo, what have I missed?

You have missed to do something wrong, it's obvious. :p
