Your first ship upgrade?

I've changed my mind. First thing I am upgrading is the sound system!

Weapons upgrade first I think. Main reason I got the docking computer on the original Elite was because it docked you instantly as soon as you were in range. Can't see that happening on ED.

I'm going to buy a trigger cover for my weapons. How many times have we fired our lasers and got a bunch of Vipers trying to wipe you from the galaxy?

Depends on what's available. Pretty sure I'm starting with the Sidewinder so if there's a larger cargo bay available that will be first, then upgrade lasers, possibly a fuel scoop if there's space and then shields. After that I want to make some money and upgrade to a larger ship. Really like the look of a viper, I wonder how much of a trade in you get for a bright orange sidewinder???? ;)

As a new commander I guess some sort of renewable defense (shielding) and some improvement on Cargo Space and a networked system to check stock markets in nearby systems...

A comfy commander chair, bunny fluffy slippers and a robo maid that shoots coffee and milk from the b**bies.

Hey, it gets lonely in space...

I don't know what you mean with range and all but if its anything like the original my first buy WILL be a docking computer.. excluding the music it always played...

The first thing I'll do is consecrate a shrine to the caffeine goddess, then I'll set about learning to dock manually. After that, I might think about upgrades - but learning to fly (and the necessary trading) comes first!

@loststargirl: your avatar reminds me of an old Byrds album cover - Sweetheart of the Rodeo.

The first change I will make would probably be a downgrade, remove all the fluff and spend the change on a bigger gun :D

Did you have the cassette tape version? the DFS version did proper docking ... most of the time - you had to keep your eye on where the docking computer was taking you though, it sometimes took you into the back of the station!

Another thought, will the starter ships be 'new' or second hand? If they are second hand then maybe a pine tree air freshener might be needed depending on the previous owner.
