I just found a problem in the game that is user caused, but something needs to be fixed in game to keep it from happening again. I left the Wolf 1301 station and traveled to Mantja System in a Cobra Mark III My ship was fully loaded with all the bells and whistles.. I purchased some Palladium (32 cargo) and then tried to travel to LP 355-65 to sell the cargo. While at Mantja, i also decided to upgrade whatever i could. I believe it was here that I did myself in. To keep the story short, I Trap myself at Mantja !!!! No matter what I did, I could not leave. I even went to the extreme of selling my cargo (for a loss) and selling all the Hard points and whatever else I could to gain the much needed jump distance to get out of Mantja. My feeling is that if I would have had a warning to not upgrade my Frame shift drive or whatever it was I upgraded then I could have saved my Beautiful Cobra. But the reality of it all is.. i needed to get out of Mantja so guess what i did to make this happen.... There was really only one option for me at this point. I had to blow my ship up on purpose ! I feel something needs to be there for the player in case something like this occurs. I am now back at LHS 3447 in a sidewinder... Can someone look into this please... to protect the player from such a catastrophe?

Sounds to me as though you replaced the FSD in your Cobra with one of a lower class (the numbers--say, going from a class 4 to a 3 or something) in your zeal to get one of a higher quality (the letters). Yes, the game could hold your hand a bit more on this particular thing and give you a warning, I guess, since it's not as obvious a faux pas as these idiots who come on and whine about how they lost their Asp--and you have to grind a long time to get one, so you're not a clueless n00b by then--and got busted down to a Sidey because they were too greedy to keep enough cash in reserve to pay the re-buy cost (insurance deductible)--which exact amount is RIGHT THERE to consult at any moment.

Initial Empire Rank progression Mission - Smuggling illegal goods (?!)

Just is just...awkward.
Either the Empire is an "unfettered" Pirate Faction in disguise - or something is seriously wrong with those initial Supply-Missions (Combat Enhancers or Personal Weapons - both illegal throughout Empire Space).

To make things worse, nowhere in the Mission description does it state that this is an illegal activity.
Worst case - Players eagerly accepting those initial Missions (having Reputation-grinded to get this far)... will end up getting caught smuggling by the exact same government that sent them, killed on approach by the exact same government that sent them - and have their precious Reputation destroyed by doing exactly what the same government demanded from them.

It just makes no sense and can backfire extremely hard.
For official government missions, resulting in official Rank progressions - every Mission has to be legal with that government.
Otherwise, that government is apparently an illegal organisation itself, if you can gain Ranks by smuggling.

Procedural Stellar Generation : Surface Temperature vs. "Icy Planet" / Extreme Pressure Data

Found a new personal record for "Icy Planet" :
ELITE-ProceduralGenerationError.jpg

1550K is quite a hot place for ice... Not sure how this Planet could hold a Water Atmosphere at this temperature - and those Water Geysirs must be quite a show at this extreme Temperature ;)
The Pressure is quite something as well, considering it's only got 10x earth masses o.0

Since it's not the only Planet of its type (awkward combination of TMP/PRS Data with supposedly Water/Icy conditions), IMHO a full automated common-sense check would have to be run through the entire Stellar Database to iron out these quirks.

I also noted alot of Planets that were much hotter than others with a much closer orbit - for no discernable reason.
Gravity "knitting" of paired Planets or Moons of large Planets is IMHO the only source of relatively increased Temperatures despite longer distance to the sun.

Procedural Stellar Generation : Planet Details (1/2-Liner Text next to it) not displayed in System Map

Not sure what triggered that, but this explored Planet didn't properly display as such in the System Map (missing "Waterworld" Text near it, all other Planets in the System had their normal Text)

Repair Screen : Totals vs. Individual doesn't add up

Saw this before (Beta or Gamma), was fixed but now it seems back (possibly a rounding error?) :
ELITE-RepairTotalsError.jpg

PS.
Probably reported already : but after basically every Trip the Paint is down to 99% and asking for like 2Cr to repair. Sometimes works - sometimes doesn't. Just odd to see.

Low Energy FSD Wake Detection Ranges

Apart from them still not despawning (and thus completely cluttering the entire Scope after a while + apparently eventually hindering futher NPC spawns), this one is fairly self-explanatory :

ELITE-LowEnergyWakeDetectionRange.jpg

If that's the sensor visibility of a Low Energy Wake - I'd expect High Energy FSD Wakes to be visible from 100LY away ;)
(I guess a Federal Carrier Prototype (850.000 ton Perseus Class) left SuperCruise at that spot :D )

"Unstable Interdictions" - the suddenly warping or flickering Escape Vector

Had a few of these again recently, against NPCs and while being alone in the instance (confirmed against Network bandwidth, <50 B/sec).
Pretty much sucks to be about to win the Evasion - then seeing the escape Vector flicker to a completely different position 40x/sec and your nice, almost full blue bar being depleted in split seconds and enter the -2% hull integrity tumble w/ FSD cooldown timer starting...

No idea what still causes it when being alone in the instance, but it's very annoying when it happens.

IMHO those things were gone until ~V1.04 or something to that tune - now the issue seems back.

Holy crap. They've got some kind of scam going on. Just got wasted by starport security (again), but some cmdr <snip> or something got the kill. Another 2 mill. down the drain...

I'm not wanted. I have no bounty on me. Didn't even deploy weapons...

Open play is broken if other players can force starport security to take me out, but still claim the kill. Griefers paradise.

Consider me another rage quit. Well done. Bah...

Using the 1.07 patch. When leaving a station in Sol, it was a 'platform' type where you land on the outside, while leaving it claimed I was still blocking the docking spot and continued to place a bounty on my until I could supercruise away.

Now, this may or may not be a bug, but it is worth discussing. Why is this a bounty that enables anyone to kill you on sight? You are a wanted man/woman for the tall price of 100 credits. Why is this not just a fine? I understand turning INTO a bounty if you neglect to pay it, but seriously, the future cannot be that cut throat. There are other issues where in dogfights you might accidentally catch another ship if it passes between your fire at an enemy, which once again seems like it should be a fine at worst, but instead means once the battle is over (or sometimes before), your previous allies will break off and attack you. Not to mention there is no surrender, only run away or die for a handful of credits. Sure, you COULD fight back, but these are your allies and the game won't treat it as self-defense anyways. You'll just get slapped with a higher bounty.

Lastly, the patch doesn't seem to let you pay off bounties anymore. This may be intended, but if it IS you might want to look at the behavior mentioned above. There's no reason I should be a wanted criminal hunted by all because I passed over a docking port and the station was too stupid to recognize I'd moved on. Let's lean towards fines for some more behaviors instead of giving every player the death penalty because they sneezed too close to another ship.

Ok, gotta report one that just happened to me just now. Returning to Titan city to complete a mission in the SOL system... dropped out of super cruise like I have done hundreds of times... except this time it didn't drop me out 8 or 9km, it dropped me out about 10 feet from the station, and I collided right into it. Shields saved me and i was able to make it.. but it scared the crap out of me!

(EDIT, ok i think i figured out what happened. I think you get dropped out of super cruise ahout 8km from the mailslot... but I came out of SC right at the butt end of the station, on the opposite side, and titan city is 8.x Km long... so I dropped out literally right on top of the station... Please fix that crap... gotta go change my shorts)

Actually, I don't mind this sort of thing - if you've ever watched "Lord of War", you'll get what I mean.

Effectively, the Govt needs you to carry out it's dirty work, and if you get caught, they disavow any knowledge...

These sorts of missions should be related to a different rank progression, perhaps a "black ops" internal ranking that is different to the usual rank progression. This sort of ranking progress may give you access to "black ops" weapons (ie - the good old days of OC, low heat, perhaps new items like low weight cargo racks, military spec powerplants etc - performance boosts ar eminimal, mostly in terms of less heat, lower weight - small benefits that won't overpower anything, but will give it a slight edge). Nothing super overpowered, but, it makes it worthwhile to take the risks...

As I said though, "illegal" missions should be tied to a totally different ranking system with that particular faction/govt..

Back to bugs - I notice the bounty wipe bug seems to work anywhere. I hit fire instea dof scan whilst targeting an Eagle, and got a wanted tag in Tanmark. Went to the main station, entered hot to avoid scan, and couldn't pay off the bounty.

Log out, log back in.. Bounty gone, no cost...

I'll have to ticket that one, though I'm sure plenty have already.

"Wanted" Bug

After completed an assasiantion mission for LTT 1349, I became Wanted.
Head back to the station Lundwall city, bulletin board, completed, then came the surprise: I couldn't remove the Wanted status in the contacts, no problem, head to another station. Launch, exiting the airlock, all the vessels and the city also started to attack me, and destroyed immediately, it was an Anaconda with a tiny 16M rebuy cost, so it's not funny.
But what is really frustrating, I already posted 3 tickets to the support, but it wasn't even read or opened.
I posted now this bug (with wanted on your head, you cannot leave the station, you'll be destroyed if you try it), I hope the support is existing and reply something, f.e: thank you idiot for buying the game, if you are dislpeased, don't play it.
But I hope for 4th time there will be some answer, is it a normal thing what happened to me, or a bug.

Well, if those were Bulletin Missions from Factions with Allegiance, I wouldn't mind either. After all, not everyone from a Faction is clean.
But when it comes to government officials and official Ranks, those have to follow their own rules to make any sense.

Unless, as said, i.e. the Empire is a dirty bunch of illegal, unfettered Factions that doesn't care for its own laws & rules.
Last time I checked, however, they're rather the opposite.

I just lost Anaconda for some stupid bug. I was entering station, moving to my landing pad 10 in tenche Blaauw when station started to shoot me with no reason at all.I was neutral, no defence turret on my ship , everything was nice and easy, but strange some Cmdr =AoD= or something like this got the kill...

Open play is griefer heaven. Sadly.

FINES / BOUNTY bug

Following upgrade to 1.07, I have been having an issue with bounties and fines. Yes, on my head.
As often happens, a Fed Security Womble decided to wander across my multicannon fire while I was laying in to a pirate. That earned me a 400 credit spank. But I was not able to pay it off at the station. It showed 'WANTED' on my HUD, it showed 'WANTED' by the station I docked at in station view, it showed in my Game summary as a galaxy wide bounty. But under Contacts (from station services, not scanners, obviously), no sign of it. Just had 'cancel' or confirm options that did nothing. Logging out and back in again caused bounty and wanted status to disappear. I was at DULOS. Also tried paying in neighbouring system wher I was also showing wanted at the station, but no joy.

Hope that helps

I have encountered the same bug - but no stations have opened fire on me yet. When I logged out and back in again, the bounty was gone. Try that if it happens again.

I am not sure if this is the correct spot for this topic. I have found in the "Mantja" System at McArthur station there is a lot of lag for me and not sure why except the star are really bright there. Also noticed that the fade in and fade out in this area is not smooth, but more harsh instead. anyone else notice this? Oh and I am in solo mode when this happens too.

Support ticket #00000033516

I had set the Galaxy Map to show realistic values for exploration. Now I'm trading again I'd like to return settings to show economy type, but the settings menu on the Galaxy Map isn't making any changes. I can select the options, but nothing happens on the map itself.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Phos.

Just an idea so I dunno if it helps, but have you checked that you're not just showing systems of a specific population size? Also it might be worth a shot to go through the other options like "alliance", "government", etc. and select everything there before switching various economies on and off. I've no idea if different types of selections are persistent in the way that they stay active when you select another type but as I said, it might at least be worth a shot.

Not sure I should start a ticket?

1)I crash anywhere in 1.07, were as 1.05 only crashed at ports flipping from commodities to galaxy. The bad thing is, it totally locks up, needing a restart every time. I have latest drivers checked temp of graphics card gtx780 68°c max.

2) I have a new keyboard USB when targeting ships and scanning them, I look at results LHS panel, my keyboard does not respond, I have to press escape twice to get control back. Really scary in battle.

Will get old keyboard back to check if its new keyboard.

3) if I incurs fine (due to hitting fed ship with laser example), I rush back to port, to pay. However, it does not show, I still press accept as if to pay fine, it crashes soon after. When re-joining all is good and record cleaned, ok

Anybody else having these problems ? If not I will check my system further.

Cheers
Scorp
