The bounty misinformation may be a bug.

I got a 50K fine yesterday when I was docking in my cargo ship, switched to my Eagle and when I went to pay the fine it was gone. (No logoff)

This current patch is really buggy imo, I'm doing nothing but trading until they fix the bounties/fines.

Did this happen in or around the WW Piscis Austrini system? There is one pirate that is rather keen to say the least.... I got dicted three times by a CMDR. I am clean but was carrying 84T of Gold at the time.

I never give them anything... if they want to take my gold they are going to have to either kill me or be killed. If they kill me then they become a murder and the game will tackle them.

+1 coz if it starts, i along with countless others will be off. As it is open play is under threat and this is the biggest threat to the game ahead of any bugs and extensions etc. I'd planned on moving to open from solo until recently when i noted the hacks discussions. Now I have decided not to bother. I'll stick to solo and when or if it becomes a hack fest too, ill go back to other SP games. FD have to tackle this and show that it is tackling it as its weak at the moment. Several thousand players leaving would probably be enough for the game to fold. This must and should be their No1 priority. Above all other things. Most people who play this game are decent.

Ive never understood cheating as you only ever cheat yourself. Daft.

Don't let a few cheaters ruin the game for you, they would exist even with a better validation system/anti-cheating.

Instead of fleeing to solo, stick to Open, we need legit players to report the cheaters.

At least, there is no real money value in cheating so far.

Only there is cash involved, since the Race to Elite began. Even if hackers are successfully detected and banned, their behaviour is likely to have impacted on the number of people willing to bother with Open play.

Moebius isn't really an option of you don't like people scooping up cargo you've shot out of NPCs, people scanning you to give you fines and people killstealing you on bounties. Moebius is really just the promised land for traders, no one else.

I hope FD look into hiring some anti-cheat specialists very soon - this sort of thing just wrecks games.

The problem I see is that FD is only hiring support staff for 3-6 months. If you're offering that kind of job security, i.e. the security you need to start looking for a new job right away, you don't get specialists of anything. You get people who can't find a job at all.

FD should have been aware from the start that giving the client machines so much power would result in heavy cheating, and the only way to deal with that is swift bans before all the legit players have given up on cheater's dystopia

Only met a couple in there but I met a very nice commander who even gave me a better trade route than the one i was running. I forget his name of the top of my head but I accepted his friend request and hope to run into him again

Yeah, I'm sticking with Open, I have no qualms about using the Alteffor Logofski Manoeuvre™ should I encounter such a person (certainly not against anyone else), besides, I'm playing on the fringes of inhabited space, most of the losers will stick around well known locations, there are tens of thousands of other systems to play in and avoid them.

Does Mobius have a strong ban system?

Yes it does. Although I've played almost all
of my playtime in the group and have had exactly zero issues with anyone. It's possible that some people are having issues but I haven't seen any posting on it. The other group I run with is the OldGamerz group. But they play mainly on UK time and so I play much more in Mobius.

I mainly bounty hunt now.

If it's who I think it was, yeah, I'm pretty suspicious too.

I've been in Solo mode for a few days now, because there has been a sudden rise in the number of players behaving like this.

given the game implementation, i'm afraid this is only the start of us seeing that kind of player....

a quick search on google with the rght words lead to a forum describing, in details, what that kind of player can achieve and how they do it.....
among what i saw yesterday, they were able to:

1- unlimited ammo / shield cell
2- unlimited (or manipulating) hull
3- manipulate weapon damage...


so i guess it shouldn't be hard or too long before they pull out godmode, teleport, bounty / wanted status manipulation or whatever they want.....

and no i won't link, it's already too easy to find!

Report him in game. Name and shame there. enter time occurred as well.

FD will review the server side log of the encounter (using that time stamp provided) to look for cheats and other suspicious activity, may ask you for your netlogs as well, and could ultimately revoke their license for the game. (So cheaters beware). If all was legit or simply server side glitches/lag, they will tell you for certain if that was the case (and apologize)

So either way report it. For all our best interest.

don't hold your breathe on that, p2p game so nothing for fdev to see, i'm afraid that this will soon be openbar for them.....

Yeah I did this and it wasn't fun. Not going to let this knock me off Open though.

They're not common, and the decent people have a role to play in stopping this by reporting.

I find it really depressing that people want to cheat at a game.

The £10,000 competition probably wasn't a wise idea, it's complicated everything.

I think I'm going to stick to a closed group with my real life friends for a bit, coming across something like this even once will ruin the whole experience for me.

I get the impression that many of the "cheaters" aren't really doing it to get an edge in the game, but more for the same reason people take apart complex machines to see if they can put them back together again.
