FD just Nuked loads of trade routes!

Because of the massive lack of content ED has, one of the ways that I was trying to get my moneys worth was grinding up the money to fly a big space battleship. Who doesn't want to fly a big space battleship?

Even if there's absolutely nothing else to do, at least I could log on once a week at marvel at a big pretty ship. But FD seem dead set on making sure that nobody who isn't unemployed ever makes it past the cobra.

Making ships crazy expensive to 'extend gameplay' through grinding is just a cheap trick that nobody should fall for, yet some people do.

Dunno about you but I have made over 4 Million Bounty hunting have a pimped out Cobra and eyeballing an Asp soon to do exploration in, Started a week and a half ago. Gamers today are all like the entitled OP and begging for easy mode. Go play a console game or a PC single player game with cheat codes and leave the real gaming to real men.

So they've finally fixed the static supply/demand problem, and markets are working they way they're supposed to? So that means that traders won't be able find one optimal trade route and repeat it ad nauseum until they're bored because they skipped the fun parts of the game in their rush to get an Anaconda? Hmm...

And I suppose that due to the lack of working trading tools available we should be happy about aimleslly wandering around the galaxy with pen and paper at the ready, just in case we spot a trade route... only for it to dry up upon working the route???

Wake up and smell the REALITY!

What's concerning is that this seems to be a "stealth" fix. Also I notice in the beta 1.1 they seemed to have "fixed" the infinite pirate respawn in extraction zones. Makes me wonder if they're just removing all potential sources of income. "People are actually reaching levels of content we're not ready for!! QUICK! DO SOMETHING!" lol

There is no doubt in my mind that they saw a fatal flaw with their design

Gain lots of money quick > get bored > quit

So you want to spend year grinding for an imaginary ship in a videogame? Some of us just want to fly space battleships for fun, not grind endlessly like it is a second job.

I also wonder how you're going to play this game for years when you can do nearly everything there is to do in the entire game in just a few hours.

You are deep, deep, deep in the Skinner Box my friend. The journey you take from sidewinder to whatever your chosen ship is the reward, not just getting the ship itself. You're mashing the proverbial button for the food pellet.

YES that is exactly what you are suppose to do and you are not suppose to tell othera or just be able to look up 'How do I make 5mil per hour in ED' on google.

Honestly dude, just quit now. Sounds like you like to complain about games more tham play them. We have all seen the type you are not unique or a special snowflake.

You are an entitled gamer when you complain about having to use a pen and paper when playing. FACT. All the good games required this in the good old days .. you know what Elite is based on. This dude really needs to try playing somehting like Ultima1-5 without a pen and paper. Good luck!

I for one vote that we bring back the static trade routes and let them act as honeypots for the OCD grinders, it was incredibly amusing watching them devalue their own income by orders of magnitude, and not have a clue that they were doing so.

REally... Who are you bounty hunting??

let me guess NPC's??

Well better get used to it since there won't be any CMDR Pirates to earn you money... since there won't be anyone trading for the pirates to steal from!

Use your BRAIN for a minute!

It would be nice of them to add in game tools to help find trades. And fix the actual issues that make the current tools useless.
Make it so if you purchase trade data between systems you can just click on a commodity, then the system/station it sells/buys from and see the profit there from that screen. No one should have to trade like the 16th century over a millennia later.

And can't wait to find out the combat bonds "balancing" is 3k for an anaconda and 100 cr for a sidewinder. Let's hope someone at FD was reasonable.

Whoever makes priority decisions need to reevaluate their priorities so that it matches the community as well.

There's a fun part of this game that I missed?

Dear god, please tell me what that is.

Was it staring at the skybox, killing the same NPCs who spout the same canned responses, searching endlessly for another human player to do nothing with because this MMO has no multiplayer features, or grinding RNG procedural missions in RNG procedural solar systems?

But.. but... IMMERSION! WOOOSsshhhhhh... Not enough!? IMMERSION MAN! You can like... do stuff and not really see any real change in the system! Wait, no, bad example. Uhh, GO TO A CONFLICT ZONE YEAH!! PEW PEW DIE SHIP DIE!! I mean... you won't really make much money nor see a change in the system really.. but... but wait! No please don't go! IMMERSION! Immerrrrsssiiiioooonnnnn! And space shiiiiipppsss! Where are you going!? Wait don't go!... well if you insist on leaving will you at least buy our expansion pack?

Us gamers are SO entitled. I mean who am I to ask for a game to be complete on release? Am I also entitled to the 25 ships that were promised to be in at launch?

Am I also entitled to offline, a promised feature which would have allowed this hollow shell of a game to be modded such that it can actually have content worth playing?

Am I also entitled to having half of the content removed from the game and added into a DLC pack, which is ironically something that was pioneered by the 'console games' that you loathe like Call of Duty?

Buh-Bye. Do not let the door hit your behind on the way out.

I suggest you give Euro-Trucker a shot since basically .... THAT WAS ALL YOU WERE DOING ANYWAY!

That's all very well and good, if there was actually a way to find new routes other than randomly traveling from system to system and then Screen shotting the market screen... then comparing!

If I want to find a good trade route I have to look for where there is an arbitrage between systems? Oh noes. Don't make me play the game, just give me infinite money and an Anaconda in every shipyard, what are you thinking FD?

Prey tell... If I wanted to trade in space why the frack shouldn't I be able to?? After all isn't Elite a space trading game??

 1. Elite is a seminal space trading video game, written and developed by David Braben and Ian Bell and originally published by Acornsoft for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron computers in in September of 1984. Wikipedia

So, they made supply/demand more realistic. All of a sudden, today you can't just move performance enhancers and consumer technology wherever you want so now we have to look for other commodities. My once profitable trade routes are gone but with some basic understanding of what is profitable where I've already replaced them with new ones moving other commodities all within 20 light years of my home station.

God forbid trading be more dynamic and require a little more thought.

TO clarify this post. You see entitled gamers like tim74uk and Vulture only see things with little !'s or ?'s above there head as content. I ran out of I and ?. Oh no's time to scream for content. 400 billion star system, well screw that exploring is not content, immersion is not content. These guys are the follower types they literally need to be told what to do where to do and even be able to google it, coming up with something fun to do on thier own. Screw that man, that is work, gimmie gimmie gimme!

Let me see if I can explain this:
Starting in December I got a job as a barista at Starbucks.
Three weeks later, I owned the company and a fleet of high performance cars - 2 Ferraris and a comfortable luxury coach/sleeper/bus with fancy leather seats and a hot tub. I blew the transmission out of my Dodge Viper pulling a stump out of my lawn, but luckily it was insured.

I still complain bitterly about the lack of opportunity in this cruel universe in which I find myself. It's incredibly unfair that the trade route I used so successfully last week has been changed; I simply cannot stop bursting into tears.

So are you trying to say the game is aimlessly wandering the same graphical star systems in the hope you might stumble on a trade route... only to have it dry up upon discovery cause you know you actually worked the route?

CMDR NeoN HaZe

I didn't say that.

But for the record.... if there is no way for us to effectively find trade routes other than by chance, totally randomly... then static is the only way money will be made.

CMDR NeoN HaZe

If you stumble upon it, it's chance. If you go looking for it, it's scouting. ;)

After my profits had dwindled from ~2.200 cr/t to ~1.200 for my 1 jump round trip (plus limited supplies), i went looking for a better place.

It took me a couple of hours, but i found it.

1 jump (under 4 ly), ~2.500 cr/t profit for the round trip, over a million tons of palladium on one end, and thousands of tons of performance enhancers on the other.

Go looking, guys...profitable runs are still out there.:)
