Celebration at Lincoln Station - February 12, 3301

Unregulated slavery is a taint upon mankind. It is good to see some independent pilots, misguided as they may be in their choice of allegiance, recognize that the Federation is suffering from lack of regulations regarding slaves. If only your leaders had half a brain, they would understand that the Imperial way is truly superior.

Slavery, even if dressed in finery, is still slavery. The Empire speaks of slavery like it is some great and noble service. You can candy coat a turd but once you've licked off the sugar you're still left with a turd. Slavery in the Empire still denies that mankind has a basic right to liberty. It's "place of honor" in the Empire is not about what is good or what is right. Its about assuaging the guilt that the rich and powerful should rightfully feel about this horrible practice.

I will join the celebration, and will bring with me a hold full of slaves to free into space outside the station, helping to do my part to honour Lincoln's memory.

Erm slavery was abolished in UK in 1833. USA abolished in circa 1860something. Maybe we should have a William Wilberforce day. Sorry but I dont hold Lincoln in any real esteem as he was not my President despite his achievements. I suspect others may feel the same. Please dont take this the wrong way. The only 'leader' who has my respect is the current Dalai Lama. All the others, churchill and other greats included, were all self serving to some or all extent. Its the little people who do things that have my respect but its always the politicians that seem to get the kudos. I'd sooner celebrate the common man/woman.

Yeah yah booo,, lol,, It's a nice idea come on do not his stawberries urinate over :)

Having slaves of any kind on your ship is considered a crime in Federation systems. So, if you follow the Federation's doctrine of personal freedom and bring slaves there to free them, you will be put under arrest by the local authorities.
Just one more example of the terrible hypocrisy that is Federal lawmaking and government.

I'll attend with my Type-9 and 532 extra guests that I'll be jettisoning in lots of 100 per hour on the hour. Good money to be made by picking up said guests and taking them to Lincoln station for processing.

So inclusive of you...celebrating in a system not everyone has a permit for!!!

I'll watch from afar...still will raise my glass for the cause...

Yeah, I agree. That kind of sucks. But they put Lincoln's station in orbit around Earth, so there you go. Maybe we can do a celebration at say, Sagan starport or something to celebrate his birthday.

Y'all should know that this thread made me realise for the first time that the Empire is located in the deep south of the galaxy.

Enjoy your party, I'll be too busy out shooting stuff for fun to attend. :)

The United States contributed ships to the West Africa Squadron from as early as the 1820s.

Okay Elite: Dangerous community! Help me make this happen.
I want to organize a gathering of Commanders outside Abraham Lincoln (Sol, Earth orbit).
February 12th is Lincoln's birthday which makes it a great time for a gathering at Abraham Lincoln starport. The times that make most sense to me are 01:00 game-time on February 12th (that will be 7PM Central Time in the USA on the 11th of February and again at 19:00 game time on the 12th to accommodate players in Europe. We can change these times or add more based on community feedback.
I'm thinking we can meet outside the station and maybe flash our headlights for something like 30 seconds to show support for ending the Slave trade in the galaxy, something that would make Lincoln proud. Maybe someone can recite the Emancipation Proclamation or the Gettysburg Address or something and folks can post links to video/screenshots from the event on the forum.
Who's with me on this?

I am in for sure.I will bring palladium for everyone to sell and get a profit.

Let's hope for your Bank of Zaonce account's sake that not too many folks attend then, LOL. I've seen how many Credits you have and I think you might be over-reaching.
For everyone else; CMDR Jaiteaes actually is my son so I know what I'm talking about.

I wonder if you can sell slaves at Lincoln on the market?
The irony ..............

Could we strech the celebration by an hour or two for us europeans with daytime jobs ? ;-)

Just so people dont think I was Yank bashing, my father is/was American (sadly passed away). I love the place equally as the UK. Oregon was my 2nd home. (So was Chicago but i hate that freezing place, brrrrr)

Lol, judging from this thread more of us chosen people in the Empire have Sol permits than the unenlightened in the Federation, and we do so love a party.
