Selling metals at Yembo

Hi am doing the community goals mission at Yembo, the build a starport one. All metals in high demand, so go to the local refinery system and load up with a high supply metal. Upon my return to Yembo whatever metal I bring back has zero demand and I get v little return on my trade.

Is this to do with community goals?

Thanks

j

You are bringing the metals to the right station ? (Naddoddur Terminal) I ran a lot of metals into there last night and was getting good returns on mine (Solo Play) .

I can personally confirm that palladium, silver and gold contribute to the community goal. I've heard a rumor that indium also contributes. I thought I read somewhere that "any metal" contributes, but couldn't find the reference. Has anyone tried tantalum, gallium or the other baser metals?

yup delivered lots of all metals and they all couted towards the goal, but with the second community goal for land enrichment systems now in tanmark im making my way over there

Yes deffo metals, Aluminium, Titanium etc ,but very poor returns, however they are counting to the community goals. And yes also the correct station. I was in open play.

Also got involved in the community goal, but tbh after a while I thought to myself..whats the point!
Got scary b1 flashbacks where no materials are available anywhere.
I could've made 10x more in the time I just invested.
Hopefully everyone else is having fun.

Clearly I need either a new ship or to ditch some important parts of my ship in order to purchase more fuel space (if that's even possible in the Eagle).

I cannot find any route to Yembo where I am not going to run out of fuel on the way due to lack of inhabited systems along the route.

Any suggstions?

I've tried most metals, including the one's you mention and they have all contributed so far. To OP, I've been getting good returns on my trades there, so sounds like a bug you encountered or something.

Thought people might be interested to see some stat's from Yembo.

Currently 2,220 contributors in the Yembo vacinity who have dropped off a total of 2,496,991 tonnes of metal (that's an average of 1,124 tonnes per person) since 1.1 dropped. Top contributor Cmdr Mauze has single handedly delivered 48,312 tonnes (since yesterday?!?! holy c**p, doesn't that guy eat or sleep?).

Makes my 78 tonnes seem like a drop in an ocean although it does (currently) qualify me for a 5% discount at station services plus a 1,000 credit reward (plus global awards, whatever that means).

Traffic report: 10,036 ships passed through Yembo in the last 24hrs. Hmmm, does that mean 8,000 players decided not to join in or does it mean that the traffic report is per-docking and not per-player?

One thing's for sure - there's a lot of people playing this game.

Nice work FD.

A fuel scoop?

These community goals are only going to work if there's a profit in it. The request for help promises a premium on the price of the materials but I've just taken a hold full of gold to Yembo and have been offered a profit of 469 credits per ton, or about a third of the profit I'd get anywhere else in the galaxy. This isn't a charitable donation. It's a business and after this load I'll be trading elsewhere.

This is good and has made the game more enjoyable for sure. I also like the fact that buying metals from the other local systems is having a knock-on effect in terms of influence for the factions there. 180 tons from me in about 4 hours of play over 2 nights. A drop in the ocean compared to some but I'm in the top 70% - hurrah!

If you're trying to just get there and not think about trading once you're there, you could

1) Buy a fuel scoop

2) Sell the Eagle, buy a sidewinder and a big engine, make the trip to Yembo, then buy and fit a new Eagle. Reverse after the community goal is complete.

I refuse to believe that all of those 2,220 players went there purely to make profit. Personally, I took time off from my rares trading to go and do something else. My reward is variety of game play and a sense of being part of something a little bit bigger (and I'm not talking about "building a space station" - although that's there too if your imagination will allow it) than just my own credit balance (which should never ever be viewed as your current "score" in this game). Most fun I've had since the Buckyball run.

OK, that's cool. If your idea of fun is jumping backwards and forwards from Wonneriti or Contegus over and over again, on a one way trip because Yembo has long since run out of anything those places wants, for a third of the profits you can make anywhere else and the hope of seeing a different graphic in space in a few weeks time then good for you. Very public spirited and all that. I'm off to kill some pirates.

There is, unless you're one of *those* people who think running a route that only offers 1200cr/t round trip profit as a loss because you could be making more...

Hi

any advise where to get metals around? I tried close systems, but they have only handfull of metals, cannot buy more than 100t at one go, I'm not looking to make a profit, just contribute to the station :)

OK, imagine this - the supply of metals at Wonneriti appears to be running down (the price is certainly going up compared to galactic average). That in itself is really interesting - it's the first time I've seen real evidence of player actions having an actual effect (and that in itself really excites me - don't get me wrong, I like killing pirates but ultimately does it make any difference, does the game care?). So, wouldn't it be cool if all the nearby stations ran out of metal altogether and the only way to fulfill the demand at Yembo was to either bring metal from a long way away or else to mine it. An actual in-game need to mine! Personally I think that would be a brilliant bit of emergent game play.

I'm not sure it will happen this time around but I'm sure FD are learning from this first one and will be using things like this to fine tune these community goals in the future.

I hope we're cool - I didn't intend to attack your gameplay personally.

Has Wonneriti run out then? I guess you just need to filter your galaxy map for extraction and refinery systems and look elsewhere. Good hunting (and leave some for me).

Of course we're cool and I'm sorry if my response seemed sharp. It wasn't intended to.

Yes, I see your point and it does make it interesting. You've convinced me. :) I'm heading over to CD-51 102 at the moment to pick up a Clipper which I'll fit out with cargo bays to make longer hauls more useful than the 90 tons I can manage in my Asp.
