Newcomer / Intro How long did it take you to get your first Anaconda?

This is just me, and I don't mean to sound like I'm having a go at anyone, but I don't really see the point in using online trade routes to exploit the game to quickly boost your way up to an Anaconda. I don't think that is fun. Put it another way. What does a person do after they have an Anaconda? I'd worry about boredom setting in if there is no more grind left. There's much more to do in the game than grind for an Anaconda.

Me, I prefer to do a bit of this and a bit of that. Go somewhere on a whim because it has a fancy name, fly off and find a story.

I'm currently in a bit of dilemma with the game though and have no home where I feel comfortable. I've 3m credits so about a third of the way to the amount of money I need for my next milestone (getting an Asp, and kitting it out for exploration). But what I'm really looking for is a new home outside of Potriti because I don't want to be based at the starting location(s). So I'm busy saving my credits and looking for a new home while a search for stories in my spare time.

Elite is a long-haul game which should hopefully improve over the course of 2015. I'm not looking for a quick buck but something I can come back to for many years.

Well, my plan is to do some looong range exploration in a ship that can safely go a VERY long distance away (opposite side of the galaxy) and have more than enough room for automated repairs as well as all the needed scanners and some good weapons in the off chance I need to defend myself. I can't see anything that can really do the job better than Annie. May be a clipper, but I REALLY want a lot of repair modules because of how far out there i want to go.

The grind is already boring, but unfortunately this is the way Frontier has designed the game. I do not see them lowering prices on anything. They seem more inclined to go the route Destiny went as far as game progression.

Plus Annies seem better equipped to do just about anything you want... Exploration, tradibg, mining, bounty hunting... You name it. It would open up the game more for me... I just have 157 days of grinding ahead of me.

.....assuming I don't blow up.

Had fun with a Viper, battled my way into a ASP, now trading 300K over 6 jumps a time. A mil an hour, so it takes bout 150-200 houres to get an Annaconda... Think I stick to the ASP for a while and go for the Python instead. Or use the ASP for discovery for a While. Not very rewarding, but way more fun than grinding my way into the millions...

I just realized... That'll be sometime in July when I can afford Annie lol

I really hope I don't accidentally crash the ship on my first day out! I'll probably never play again! Haha 😂

6 weeks it has taken me to get enough to buy an Annaconda and some upgrades but im stuck in my Python with superglue :D , mostly trade profit, my normal is 2 hours of trade then combat for an hour or so, depending on day playtime 3-6 hours 4-5days a week.

i will prob get a type 9 first though and keep the Python

Grinding cash gets much faster once you get into the T7, Python, and T9.

Just remember buying the big banana isn't enough. You also need cash to cover insurance and 16M for the best motor plus whatever else you want to upgrade. Add another 3-6M for trading capital.

You could explore in one, but the wear and tear costs are going to make you cry. It's about 25,000cr for every 1% of wear amd tear on the hull.

From T7 up it starts feeling like you'll reach it much quicker.

Got mine over Christmas but I played through Gamma as if there wasn't going to be a wipe :D

pretty much exactly the same as you :D

since getting it tho ... i haven't made much money lol, i just have "fun" (as in i do everything but hardcore trading lol)

"How long did it take you to get your first Anaconda?"

I got my first one in about 60 secs mainly with missiles but the beam lasers helped

If i had to calculate my time since last october I would say that I have played 150 to 200 hrs and have not gotten close to an Anaconda in my stable of ships. I am presently flying a T6 and fully kitted Asp, and at the last count I am about 4MIllion short of a entry rate T7.
Now I have had fun doing all kinds of things during these 200 hrs. I have lost a few ships made a lot of mistakes and have had and having a great time. so I grind a little, kill a little and check things out a little.
I am slowly making my way to either a clipper or a Fer De Lance whichever comes first, so about another 200 hrs might get me there if I play smart.:)
Once i am done that then the real game begins, the great reckoning is comming we will crush the Feds and the Empies. :) Have fun many of us are.:)

Do you really have to get an anaconda?
The whole thing is fun isn't it.
I dont have a goal really! who cares.. just dont leave the bank empty ;)

I'm in that club too lol

That's why I wish the grind wasn't so bad. By the time I have enough money for what I want to do, I'll probably be bored of the thing lol

I've had so many setbacks that the biggest ship I ever flew was a Clipper, right after a T7.

Gamebreaking bugs crashed me back to an Asp though... and currently, I have no intention of getting any bigger ship. I'll buy a collection of smaller ones, though, and fit them out.

There are a lot of "tutorials" explaining whats the easiest way to get an anaconda.
But its seems more like a job, theres no fun in trading 300 times between 2 stations.
You have maximum 2 hours of gameplay per day (if possible) its not wise to spend it that way ;)

Exactly. It's like the bar they set is just too high to be reasonable for anyone that can't sit at the computer 24/7.

At that rate, I won't be able to afford Annie for another 157 days....

That's about the timeframe it looks for me. I'm not afraid of a grind, I played WoW for years. But given how uninteresting trading is.. I've long accepted I'll never get an Anaconda. The fun of this game is hunting in anarchy zones, and I spend just enough time in the hauler to pay for repairs.
