Hi commanders! 
I want to put up a quick post on what I think the devs need to do to point this game in the right direction.
I apologise if some of these things have already been covered (some, if not all of them most likey would have been), but this thread is simply about what I personally believe to be some of the most important things that need to happen in order to get this game on the right track, I understand that not everyone will agree and that is fine.
1) Stop trying to cater for everyone, and end up catering for no-one.
If you start the game in solo, you should stay in solo. If you start in group, you should stay in group, if you start in the ultimate open, you should stay in open. It should not be non-negotiable! No refunds no returns! It is not fair for people to build up wealth in solo without having to run the guantlet, only to turn up in 'open' to 'flash their bling'. You can not have your cake and eat it. FD need to make a FIRM STAND on this IMO. Other games have no mercy, and FD should not either! Are you insured?
2) Combat logging.
If you 'dissconect', or if you 'pull your cable', there should be a FULL ONE MINUTE pass where your ship is simply floating in space. No excuses and no mercy, no exceptions. There is no exceptions in any other game like this, FD, you are trying to -foot around the people who wreck this game. TRADERS NEED TO ACCEPT THAT THEY ARE PLAYING 'OPEN' AND TAKE THE ROUGH WITH THE SMOOTH!
And before the people who dont like what I am saying here come in to say their bit, if your internet is [masked swearing redacted - please avoid this thank you]or of you are having a night of bad internet, then do not play open to risk it. The majority of people will be fine, and this will definatly stop combat logging, better to fight with a chance than no chance at all.
3) The food chain.
Traders > Pirates > Bounty Hunters.
This to me, is one of the most important things that FD have to get right. (just in case anyone is wondering, I am bounty hunting)
If there are no traders, then there are no pirates. If there are no pirates then there are no bounty hunters (other than hunting bots).
WE ARE CURRENTLY LACKING IN PIRATES BY A LONG SHOT!
If they get ths right, then even without all of the content which people are complaining about, it will be FULL of content. This will truely flesh out the game without FD even having to lift a finger!
My idea of heading in the correct direction with this, is the following .......
1) Make Trading very profitable. This is the start of the food chain. Traders should be able to hire 'bots' to defend their ships throughout their run. Or pay more for experianced human players. "damn, protection costs x amount, means I wont make as much", but then they get ATTACKED by pirates! Glad they spent that extra money now as they see their 'escort' see off the pirates.
This also makes their mundain boring 'run from a to b' a HELL of a lot more exciting!!!!
2) Pirating should be very profitable at the expence of rep and danger. Can't just dock anywhere you want anymore, need to for pirate communities to get by, look at how Eve does this. No more combat logging because of the 'no mercy one minute rule above^^^'. There ARE NO PIRATES in the universe until this happens!! There are sooo many people that fancy themselves as pirates but can just tell right now that it is not going to work and so stay as bounty hunters.
Pirates suffer NO PENELTIES when selling thier loot and also get profitable missions that are NOT AVAILABLE TO ANY ONE ELSE. This is step 2 in the food chain.
3) Bounty hunting. Works fine. Somtimes the hunters become the hunted.
4) FSD cool down needs to INCREASE A LOT. When you jump into a system, there should be no quick escape. In eve, people use 'scouts' to see if there is danger BEFORE their jump, emulate this.
5) People play together, this should be encouraged! Fix voice communication. Have a system in place, where it is easy to 'find and communicate with' team players, and for god sakes, make it SIMPLE to find a friends WAKE if they are intridicted, or even doing a free lance mission. It should be easy for team players to be able to find themselves in the SAME WAKE any time they see fit.
