Thats good news, I've been playing ED with everything bar AA in 2560×1080 on an old GTX 460 and I am getting an urge to upgrade.
I've got a 980 so Double ner ner na ner ner to you!
970 cleary superior machinery to 980, OP should have bought a 970 too!

what ever im running this game and its giving me a a constant 120 fps what ever resolution i choose so if you bought a 980 you paid extra for what the magazine called a 0.005 % increase in power
I might wait a bit and see what the AMD 380X / 390 cards are like. Early impressions seem to point to it outperforming a 980. But then, I wonder what the next gen NVidia stuff will bring?
The 970 and 980 are both fantastic cards. No need to argue over video cards guys come on now that's a bit sad

Well done OP, I upgraded from a Gigabyte GTX 650Ti BOOST to a Gigabyte G1 Gaming Edition GTX 970 and like you I was very pleased with the performance. I'd imagine the 960 isn't far off a 970. Should last us a while

I have a GTX 750ti as well but it's fine for me. At least it's not your GPU

I have 2 x GTX570s in SLi. I'm not complaining, as the game runs fine, but have been salivating over the 970/980s.
A friend of mine suggested getting 2 x 970s in SLi as opposed to a single 980, but I would appreciate your sage advices on the matter?
I'd obviously like to up the detail and FPS, but also Shadow Play sounds great, too.
So for someone at the thinking stage of an upgrade, what would you recommend? A single 970, 2 x 970s in SLi, or a single 980?
Rest of set-up:
i7-2600K @ 3.4GHz
16Gb RAM
Main monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 2443 (1920 x 1200)
Second Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster SA350 (1920 x 1024)
Aivia keyboard, G500s mouse, X52.
