I see strange things when scooping... Like hungry flare here: "I'm not going to feed you, okay?"
strangethings.jpg

My latest prospecting expedition took me to this system where this gas giant, far out from it's star, had strange noctilucent clouds.

or maybe my monitor brightness is up too high... anyway - it was spectacular at the time.

My versions of "It's heading for that small moon"
smallmoon.jpg

"That's not a small moon, that's a... icy planet!!!

Struck gold... well, Silver actually... at the pristine inner ring of this planet.

"The chances of navigating an asteroid field are..."
chances.jpg

...er... are greater than the chances of finding that rock that actually has metal in it. Nothing but Gallite here. (I did find one tiny rock with 40% silver chunks...)

I love the fact that you can drop in to the ring at full midday, and then realise that you have orbited into the night side. "Gosh, it's getting dark out. Time to say goodbye..."
later.jpg

Finally, my first glimpse of civilisation down planetside... but got distracted by "Gosh, that station looks a bit beat up... When was the last time they gave the hull a bit of spit and polish..."
glimpse.jpg

Just had to do it 4k... Gosh, just realised how scratched the dash is...(open picture in new window to see the full size version...)

CMDR Sheehy in his trusty Cobra explorer craft "Mah-ze" :D

The station's owner is compensating for something. :D

Some more screenshots from my trip...

Giant Space Mold?

Never judge a planetary ring system by it's cover. You just might miss something.

Even trading can yield some wonderful vistas.

Never tell me the odds!

Don't be afraid of the dark. Be afraid of what's in the dark.

New atmospheric effects (this thing glows as far as you can see it)

Edit -

This is one of the stops in my Yembo route. One of my many trips though the system was very close. As I was exiting hyperspace I was skimming the corona of one of the stars. My fuel scoop activated before dropping into orbit around the second. If I'd entered just a bit lower, I'd need a lot of fire insurance!

I just found the 5 T-Tauri system mentioned earlier in this thread - was amazed by it (also another commander there enjoying the sights) :) . Anyone who says 'all the systems are the same in this game' is kind of missing out.
.
Great pics - keep 'em coming.

the first water-world moon i saw on my journey, even it's planet is terraformable:

i have to admit, the view from up here is really something else...

...but first i'm going to dive right in! i heard rumors of A* black hole down there... :D

A rusty high-metal planet...

oh, Anika, those rusty [redacted]...
I did a scan once and didn't manage to slow down in time (I have been pulled by its gravity) and... BANG! 'Too close - emergency stop' -> 2% hull payment ;)

exactly, I've been on 1.500 high above the center bar, it felt like a house on a tree above a milky blanket

On the last one you can faintly see the ring around the lava planet. I could't get a shot where you could see all three planets up close together with the ring.
