No headset, just a mic between my throttle & stick for VoiceAttack. No one else is allowed in my home office unless they are cleaning it, so no need for a headset.

one of these days I might try it, but I'm just not big on wearing headphones for hours at a time. Plus then I can't hear anything around me, like the door or the phone.

Not hearing the door or phone are both positives in my book! :D

I have an Alienware headset that I use mainly as headphones. I have a standalone mic though - Audio-Technica something.

I always have a headset but am using a 3rd party chat app to talk to friends.... maybe if the game adopted an xbox live party system it would be better.

Does the game allow conference calling? more than 2 players in a chat channel? Never tried it with more than 2 hence the thread.

No, I tried various headphones, but found the sound quality too inferior to my 5.1 DTS setup. Much better sound from my speakers.

Nah, never played with a headset in all my years. I like speakers, though I understand headsets are better (I've tried them time to time, it is incredible how much more I can hear).

Since the supreme commander came home one day in December and could hear the explosions from the road. I have had no other choice.

needs a "no, because i have a soundblaster zx with beam-forming microphone and the people i'm talking to can't hear what's playing though my speakers" option ;-p

I sometimes play with a headset and also have a desktop mic enabled when I'm playing with speakers. Not sure if any of them would work in ED since I never tried ED voice comms and there is no setup/testing utility for them in game - or if there is I haven't found it. Speaking of which, I wouldn't know how to take a call, but I guess I'd be able to figure it out.

I most likely would respond if hailed ingame due to common courtesy, however to use an analogy: If some stranger pulls next to me on a highway, cranks down his window and starts yelling at me, I'd most likely slow down and lower my window to listen to what he has to say - but it better be more important than just saying hi.
