Fer De Lance size estimation

So by visually estimating a cockpit size of the 3 ships and assuming FDL is a one-seater, I came up with this picture where ships are side by side . What do you think?

Your picture looks very wrong to me. The FdL cockpit is way too small compared to the two other ships.

Anyway, it's very hard to compare the ships based only on the canopy sizes, because no one knows how big the cockpit window will be compared to the pilot's size, the ratio isn't always the same...

You cant really go off cockpit size ..We dont even know if its a one seater or two seater (do we) plus your models all look to be at totally different scales.. Im guessing those are two hard points at the back of the cockpit flare.. That may help

Love the alliance paintjob its that for real?

'tis the wireframe paint scheme, on limited release last year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Elite. Personally, I had imagined the ED incarnation of the FDL as having a roomy luxury cockpit (bit like the Clipper), putting the size closer to the Asp.

Fer de lance was always bigger than that. In the original elite it was among the four bigger ships including python anaconda and boa, though much sleeker, faster and deadlier

85 x 20 x 45 in the original.

Slightly bigger then the Cobra, that sits at 65 x 30 x 130. Limited in all regards.

Python replacement, Top kek. Big ship, 40 keks.

1 Large, 2 mediums at best. Its a bigger Adder.

I don't think that it will be like an Adder. More closer in my belief is that it will be to the Viper what the Viper is to the Eagle: Worse than the Viper in manueverability, higher costs across the board, but more firepower, slightly more speed, and slightly better protection.

I'm pretty sure that it will be a strongly combat-leaning ship, unlike the Adder or the Python. It will probably have little internal space, and might have power plant issues if fitting shield cells.

Just my guesses and predictions.

You are thinking of the Vulture. Not the FDL

I think that the Vulture is going to be a lot lighter than the FDL, more Viper sized. More like an alternative to the Viper, than a size increase from the Viper like the FDL.
I do think that both are going to be combat-leaning ships.
