Did pretty much the same.Sold my Python, bought a decked out Asp, and banked the remaining 200 million. The Asp is parked in landing bay 2 while I play Galaga in the space lounge. Commanders need time off too, and that is what I will be doing until something comes along.
I agree with this. It has immense potential, but its still just bare-bones. Barely any content. The game feels more like they should be selling the engine/galaxy to someone who can fill it with something interesting to do. Its akin to a tech demo. Its awesome, and SO close, but no soul. I so want to love this game.
I still don't understand why people feel the need to make these posts. So you are bored, so you are leaving. Do you honestly feel that informing everyone on the site that you have chosen to bail out will achieve anything? Really I struggle sometimes?
When the forum is only happy people and if nothing has changed the game is dead. Look at it that way.
The problem with this game as I see it is that it was never supposed to have a story. This is fine, the original Elite didn't either but since you were never supposed to be the leading charachter the idea of being a small cog in a big machine was supposed to allow you to affect the universe and the combined contributions of all the players would have an overall effect. In turn the game itself was supposed to provide stuff that players could interact with and steer the story. In other words there is supposed to be stuff to interact with but no universes to save. This all sounds fntastic on paper but so far we have not seen anything to interact with. There is a build structure there for buying bigger ships but nothing to actually do with them once you have them other than save for your next one. Using your imagination does not cut it. In 2015 if you are going to make a decision like that you had better be careful you provide something very strong to keep players interested. If you are going to forego story telling then the simulation should be so full of stuff to do and interact with it should keep you immersed and very busy.
Imagine GTA with no storylines or side missions. GTA with only rampage icons and race icons to interact with. That is what we have in ED right now. Those who choose to believe this is the way the game is supposed to be and that the rest of us don't get it will be eating their words when alternatives are introduced because they will. A real mission system will eventually arrive because this game will not survive without it. It is impossible for it to continue indefinitely without something to actually do with those ships you have earned and the bulletin board was only ever going to be a gap fill at best. To think that is acceptable as the backbone of a game in 2015 is just not good enough. I am not saying we are going to get videos and cut scenes but we will get arching scenarios and more interesting things to interact with. If you watch the dev videos this was always what was implied.
So far though we have not seen any new content. Wings, new ships and what we have seen so far is not content. It is merely fixes for features that were supposed to be there on release but didn't work. Next month we will not see any actual new content either and when the player base has to wait a full extra month again after that and there still is not any new content 4 months after release then people will start to become very impatient. ED is very much behind. Comparable games would be starting to release DLC by now while ED is still trying to patch basic functionality like communication and multiplayer interactivity that was supposed to work upon release. Even then there will not be any actual things to do together once it has implemented. Content needs to be added quickly because if you think the moan posts are bad now, just wait until 2.3 is released...
Elite has got this same structure all these years. I have been waiting this kind of game for years. I don't understand complainers who don't offer any suggestions how to make it better, but only complain game is dull. While you are leaving you could atleast tell us what kind of content do you want to make this game better for you, otherwise you seem to be just like other griefers out there.
Because they didn't want one?I am not bored yet but I think the big problem is indeed some sort of missing storyline or campaign. I don't know why they didn't implement one....

I really don't understand what people are expecting when they say the game is boring and soulless and what not (I'm being serious, not snide or condescending); because I'm having a ball travelling from one station to another, trading goods; but then, I really enjoy simulation games, to give you an example, I can spend days playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. Put on the radio, and drive a truck across Europe. Epic.![]()
I'm from the original generation, achieved Elite status on my BBC model B, and whilst I appreciate the efforts FD have made to be true to the original it feels like that's all they've done - created a clone of a 30 year old game without really adding anything new of any substance except some average graphics.
They did way more than update the graphics. There's much room for improvement with the fetch missions, add random events and more variety with station interiors, space traffic. The 1.2 update will make multiplayer much more fun with groups.
