Rank up notification

Hi all,

I managed to get to Expert combat rank recently without noticing. I have no idea when this happened as there was no notification.

Please FD can we at least get some sort of screen message to let us know we've ranked up - I want a fist pump moment when it happens.

If I remember rightly from the original 'right on commander' used to flash up on your screen when you achieved a new rank....that was on the C64, 30 years ago!

This can't be that hard to implement can it?

This, in my opinion, was just as fundamental to include in the game as the letterbox was.

Who here can remember the high when you saw the 'Right on Commander!' pop up on the screen?

I really, really miss it and it isn't Elite without it.

I'll go along with that, too. It was a real buzz back in old Elite days when "Right on Comander!" popped up....
I've advanced a few ranks with exploring and trading and didn't even notice until I checked my status screens....

I was concentrating on my ranks recently, had to constantly keep checking to see if a mission ranked me up, also had to remember my old rank so as to know.
A simple message in transaction tab, or on the hud would suffice, would also help with that feeling we need of an achievement reached.

I remember 'Right on Commander', and yes, it was a buzz to get it. IIRC once you got above a certain rank you needed 2 or more to get to the next rank.

Completely agree here, not just a notification but a little congratulations or something. In any game I’ve ever played they always had this for leveling up or reaching a rank or achievement. I used to be addicted to that little ‘ping’ or drum roll or whatever.
This is completely basic to include in a game, and I know it’s small but it’s just another example that the game was thrown out with this ‘vision’ and nothing else.

As a newcomer I completely agree with this. It is actually annoying to have to continually check to see whether or not the last 10 kills, or trades have pushed you into the next ranking bracket.

So obvious, of course we want it. I suspect most of us bought the game through kickstarter because of nostalgic memories. I would like it to be exactly the same format.
