I think a pure bounty list might be ok. Just the cmdr and the bounty.
No accusations and slander though, coz that again could fall under naming and shaming.
Even though it might be outside of FD's forum and therefor outside their forum rules, if brought to their attention, it's up to them to penalize any namer and shamer, regardless of WHERE it was posted.
I'd keep that in mind.

Oh yes there is a lot of that to think about if I did it. obviously it would have to enhance the game and not itself become a source of griefing etc.
Was thinking along the lines of it being a "create a wanted posted" type thing. Which you can do annoymously or give a name (may be not even a real one if you wish)
Anyone would be able to "rip the poster down" / "draw on it" update it etc. So it is more like a wild west poster mentality. Of course in your poster you would have to
explain how you gonna pay up ? etc etc. Which could mean you are a target at the "handover point".
Seems to have got some traction so I may knock up something in beta... and see what you guys think.?
So you think FD are going to monitor third party websites? Not gonna happen. Its also pretty doubtful that they could penalise a player in-game for comments made on this website, so they have no chance (or, I think, the will) to even think about other peoples websites.

I know mods (representing FD) do check third party web sites. A mod deleted a thread where someone had linked to a Reddit thread. In that Reddit thread was a video which contained bad language, which is against forum rules.
I think FD would take some sort of action if they felt someone was getting victimised. Not sure what action but they'd have to do something - wouldn't they?
Thats not monitoring a third party website though is it? Thats following a link from this website. They werent monitoring reddit, found a video with bad language and took action against the commander. If it wasnt linked to from this website, they wouldnt have been aware of it.
And yes, if FD felt someone was being victimised on this board, or in game (and they had the telemetry to prove it) they should take action. But if someone is being bullied on another website, and they happen to have an ED commander, and the people bullying them had an ED commander, you think they would take action?

No, i don't think that at all.
I said "if brought to their attention".....as in, a player complaining about unrightfully beind named and shamed on a non-FD site.
I also find it astounding, that so much energy is being used on finding ways to CIRCUMVENT current rules instead of just abiding by them....what a novel thought, eh ?
You have totally misunderstood the intention. We are not interested in circumventing forum rules. We use the forum and abide by the rules. What we want is a space whereby we could have a bit of fun with top five bounties. The website itself will be self modded. If thine eye offends thee then pluck thee out, ie if you dont like what we are going to do, you dont have to come and visit the website.
It is a pity that this isn't in the game itself. I would have thought that FD would see it as a way to enhance the experience of both pirate, traders and bounty hunters.
thats only for this forum...if its an independant web site they do as they see fit
FD have no control over what happens outside of their forums, and can only take action in game over things that happen in-game. Even being banned for life from the forum is no reason for them to stop you from playing if you behave impecably in-game.
I can breach every single one of FDs T&Cs on other forums, and email Daivd Braben telling him I've done it. As long as my conduct on here and in the game meets the respective T&Cs for the game and on here, there is NOTHING they can do.

I can see the reason for the no naming and shaming rule. But it only applies, and can only apply, to these forums.
I didnt answer the question you asked because its a nonsensical question. FDs naming and shaming policy has no effect anywhere outside of this forum, and FD can take no action against anyone who breaches it outside of these forums. Or do you think that every set of T&Cs you sign ever up to applies everywhere in the unvierse all the time? Or, for example, Apple can close your itunes account because you talked about jailbraking an iphone on a non-apple website? Even if you dont talk about it on Apple forums and dont actually jailbreak your phone? Because that is exactly what you are suggesting is possible.

I don't see how putting a bounty on anyones head is shaming as long as you don't give a reason. you could want them dead for any number of non shameful deeds. Unless your just not allowed to name people on the forums. If i said i want to buy the destruction of bAdbud ship for 1mil. I don't see any shame in that but we can always wait to see if this gets edited by a mod lol.
