Sic cockpit design! Bravo! :)

With the rear seat sitting so much higher, it reminds of the Apache helicopters. The rear seat is the pilot, and the front seat is the gunner.

Trouble is, the rear seat doesn't appear to have anywhere for the holographic HUD to be displayed, so I'm still assuming it's a passenger and/or weapons officer.

I don't like it. We're supposed to be the commander, not the invisible guy in the captain's chair behind us.

Your'e thinking Capital or Warships, where the commander directs the vessel.. Regardless of rank, the Pilot should always have the best visibility for flying, think Apache, C130 Hercules and any number of attack aircraft. The only time you'll find the Commander sat in the back, in those type of craft, are during training flights.

*ok scratch that, i always thought the gunner sat in back (but then, in terms of visibility he has a camera too)

Could even be an Engineers spot.. 'Aye Captain, kin keep a good eye on the girl fae up here..'

Just my 2/- worth.

The front seat has the stick, so the rear seat must be for the ship commander...

... does that mean if we fly this, we are not CMDR?

It's almost exactly the same as the dropship. you fly at the front. Does nobody else own the dropship? The design is exactly the same except the windows. Strange that they would recycle the design like that. Previous ships have been unique

I think its a victim of practicality, since that layout is the best for that crew space without going double decker like the Asp. We already have most permutations (tandem, stacked etc) so some repetition is inevitable I suppose.

I bet the OR will be spectaclar though in this ship!

Yeah true, but I mean the internal layout looks 'Exactly' the same as the dropship.

I must say FD design does lovely work. The attention to detail in sound, ship design and interiors are awesomeness.
I notice new details on my battered Adder everyday. The (never TEH) Yankee stuff not so much. Even Roller Coaster Fun time looks cool.
(that will be 5 quid pro quo)

Well, they do want to release it quick, and isn't it the same ship manufacturer?

If they are from the same manufacturer I could understand the commonality but they do look similar, I have to agree from that shot!

If you look closely, you'll see the rear seat has a folded away stick, so you could really use either I guess if you're operating it single pilot.

seams like there is a universal spaceship Chair producer regardless of type of ship you are flying.. tisk tisk. COME ON FD..................... . be abit more creativ in regards to cockpit costumasation.... this is just plain boring..

Dude: spell check and stop trolling

What are you expecting, the ship from Hitchhiker's Guide?

Second chair's for handling the turrets in a "Don't get cocky, kid" sort of way...

Off to find image to match... - Here we go...

Do we have any hints on the outside or setup of this ship? other than '2 seater heavy fighter' type thing? a little looking found the a 'hunter' concept, but that was looking very Empire.
