ED, the rift and sweetFX

Question, do I need to pull the 3 files out to the same if using 64 bit OS? There is a folder that says sweetfx 64 with like 3 files in it. Also reading in other places that need to delete GE FORCE Experience also?

No i got 64 OS too and you dont need to extract files in sweet64 folder

I don't see any of the settings in my file that you have. I've just copied the google drive folder directly to my game folder, I didn't copy/paste his settings. This is how I've been getting my miracles...

Google drive folder come with different settings (more flat screen oriented) , you can try other settings from first page and see if you like it. Dont forget to make backup foryour main setting file

You guys with Windows 8 take a look at this.

Did you make it to run on Win 8.1?
Yes, I followed the instructions and it's running now.

For Win 8.1 users:
Be careful not to put the files in the ED folder like the OP said.
You need an extra program (RadeonPro) and some more steps to configure it. This program must be runnig to detect the start of ED, and then everything should be working.

Here is another good article for reference:

The stereo 2nd window is a no go with this right? If I want to use it but have these files loaded is there a way to default sweetfx OFF on load so we can still use 2nd window when needed?

I used SweetFX for Assetto Corsa and IRacing and it made a huge difference!

However, in ED it looks mange - too bright, washed out colours etc and I must say, I prefer the stock setting in game...

Is it just me?

I have downloaded the version from the OP.

Hi, there are multiple versions of the sweetfx_settings on first page, you should try one without color/contrast/gamma changes and see if it suit more your taste.

Only way i know would be to disable sweetfx via radeonpro before launching the game.... I don't use the 2nd window so can't help further.

Yeah, they were terrible for me as well....the OP posted up the settings I ended up going with. Much better.

Rep to you sir. :D This is the single biggest improvement in graphics on the rift I have used. Thanks muchly for sharing, and thanks to the others for adding different configs!

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback. Don"t forget to share if you find some really nice settings :)

How do you enable this, PAGE UP? I had this working a while back but didn't like the brightness. tried another setting but can't seem to activate it this time.

Thanks

Edit - nevermind, I was loading the Beta, but I put the files in the live game directory ;)

I spent WELL over an hour last night fine tuning EVERY setting option in the settings.txt file for sweet FX. I would make ONE settings change to ONE variable, and go back in the game and toggle it off and on a dozen times... then back to the file, well over a hundred times to try and get my file prefect... and MAN does it look good now. Slightly more punchy, perfectly sharp without any artifacts or halos, better blues, not washed out, doesn't require a gamma adjustment, amazing! I should have it finished tonight, and hope the OP swap it out with mine on page 1... which really has nothing in it.

Can't get this to work. I am running Win 8.1.
The original version produced an error message when starting ED. At least that indicates I was placing it in the correct folder.
The "possible fix for 8.1" solution doesn't seem to do anything. No change when pressing PGUP. I was using the setup presented first in the OP.

I have a GTX 980 so I guess there is no point installing RadeonPro.

Really waiting for your settings captain.
I am using yours in opening post with a little more of sharpening.

Yeah don't worry... I will post it up asap. I am going to do a few trade runs tonight, and really get a good look at everything I would normally see before I settle on it.

The one I am running now that I tweaked from scratch is fantastic (IMO). I didn't even start with a base setting and go from there.. I started with everything at zero/disabled, and went through each variable in each setting, one-at-a-time, tick by tick by tic, reloaded and toggled, and tweaked it from the ground up. My goal was to improve the sharpness without over-sharpening or introducing any artifacts, get slightly more vibrant colors without an over-saturated look (becomes obvious that the stock colors are lacking when looking at a bright blue planet), without having to touch your gamma, as I find the overall contrast and curves of the image to be pretty damn good out of the gate. I get bright whites and deep blacks, without sweetFX at all... So I didn't destroy the curves that a lot of guys have done with their settings. It tends to destroy highlights or ruin details in the blacks. I think you will be pleased. It isn't rocket science, it just takes a LOT of tweaking and rechecking, and just takes time. I'm happy to share my results.
