Seriously, I've tried to slingshot around several suns-in Super-cruise-but I just can't seem to travel to the latter half of the twentieth century. Terrible shame, too, as I was hoping to have a whale of a time once I got there :p ;).

Hopefully you don't materialise in the 20th century as a bowl of petunias.

Well, according to recent studies by Dr. Emmett Brown, all you need is to go straight forward fast and to have a power plant with an output of about 1.21 gigawatts.

Simple answer: Imagine time travel is possible. OK?

Now, think about the absence of tourists from the future. Doooh... Seen any (aside from Charlie Sheen)
That's quite an argument against the existence of time travel - simplified, sure, but quite reasonable and
still a variant of 'Fermi Paradox'

What you actually need for time travelling is popcorn in a non-microwaveable metal container, a microwave oven and a supernova.
Since none of that is yet implemented in ED, I guess you're out of luck. :(
