Cider (mass noun) an alcoholic drink made from fermented apple juice, popular with women in the 1980s and men who can't handle real drinks (Oxford English Dictionary)

That definition is clearly written by someone who has never been to the scrumpy producing regions. I've had some stuff that won't just put hairs on your chest, it'll put hairs on the hairs on your chest. Q. What's orange and tastes like cheese? A. Prinknash Abbey cider.

Loving the thinking guys! I've thought about cider but you really need a fruit press for that!

First time I tried, I ended up with cider vinegar. Second time I tried, I ended up quenching the thirst of several hundred wasps. Third time, I went to the supermarket and bought a box of Westons Wyld Wood.

Scrumpy will remove your hairs by pulling them out with rusty pliers and slap you about the noggin with a wet trout, if you are unprepared.

If Elite: Dangerous was a beer... it would be brewed from spent military fuel and infused with hyper-drive coolant, with a generous dollop of landing-gear grease thrown in.

What would they call it? Jontibass, of course. :D

Disclaimer: All claims to the lack of masculinity in regards to cider are only in regards to John Stabler and in no way reflect upon other cider drinkers.

It really depended on what he meant which was the issue.

Bob would be drunk. (Bob will be in a state of inebriation)

Bob would be drank. (Bob in this conditional state with vampires would be imbibed).

Cider for Elite
Stout for Elite Dangerous

not sure what it could be for Frontier and First Encounters.

We do need 4 in total though.

So far the leader is a rich dark Hobgoblin style beer. No real entries for the name of such a beer!

Does the winning entry get beer as a prize? That might spur a few people on...

Whether or no, my entry is 'The Coriolis Effect'. References the Coriolis space-station, the method used to produce specific... erm... artificial gravity*, and also describes the feeling after you've polished off a few bottles.

I'm guessing that 'Cobra' is barred, for trademark reasons.

*A joke for the brewers among us...

Oh yes I like that! Brewing terminology in Sci-fi! There would definitely be beer in it for the winner! Though it would have to be picked up, doesn't go through the post very well I'm afraid!

Well the beer won't be a commercial product and I won't be selling it, therefore we can call it what we want!

Perhaps to make things fair we'll get the Lave Radio Gents to judge the entries for the name!!!

Ok so Elite Dangerous is a dark, rich ale similar to that of Wychwood Hobgoblin or Adnams Broadside.

I'll throw together a recipe and get brewing!

Any further thoughts on a name?

What about something like 'Jameson's Ghost' or something like that?

late to the brew poll... Methinks Elite: Dangerous tastes something like a Theakstons Old Peculiar.

If it were to be a cider, then one of the single varietals - perhaps a Thatchers Cox or Spartan.

I am thirsty now.

Happy brewing rory, btw :)
