I hate to be one of those "Where is the content" guys but...

1.2 will add some needed co-op functionality and couple of ships but not much else. I think we'll have to wait for full blown expansions for significant content additions.

or potentially in Update 1.3 .. Power Play?
PP speaks, to me at least, of "Faction activity"? Galnet does tend to gravtate towards Faction news.

Agree it's a pain if people have already visited on Galnet announcements, expecting injected events, finding them absent. With luck a Dev announcement in 1.3 that, "injected events are now better aligned to Galnet" will bring confidence back?

Immature impatience? The only thing immature in this situation is Galnet. Posting a news article prematurely that appears to point to game content only to find... nothing.
Right now I'm pretty much stuck at this point in my game save waiting for the arrival of content that may or may not come. I don't mind waiting I just want to know that I'm not waiting for nothing.
If this stuff is so hard to implement... well, that's fine but they could have just NOT posted the news article on Galnet and I'd still be in Federation space enjoying the game instead of sitting on a pad in and Imperial system waiting.

Agreed enthusiastically, as well as what the OP wrote! ED's release is 3 months old. So far, everything has been about fixes (still going and needed) and a few features. Content has been clearly on the back burner.

Some may even wonder if ED could have even supported more content WITHOUT post-release necessary fixes and features...

So far 1.1 and 1.2 have some decent additions but not that much in the way of significant content or mechanics. I assume 1.3 will continue that trend. That said, I do hope 1.3 will introduce and/or significantly expand some of the core mechanics . Would be great if interacting with major and minor factions, joining them, ranking up etc. had more depth and if allegiances actually mattered.

I am sure (from earlier Elite games, books and lore and etc.) that will be the plan.

To OP

That's the price of morals brother ;)

Although I wouldn't have of expected a 50% haircut , at least they could offer what you had paid. I'm not sure that story was intended as a comm goal ? or it didn't sound like it to me at the time. Probably too much time passed now for it to turn into one ? Easiest way would be use Thrudds or slopeys see if you can at least break even near by, if conscience allows.

So, er, what's the point of Galnet? Does it really not relate, in anyway, to actual in-game events?

If not then what a stupid, cheap way of FD to attempt to add atmosphere to their computer program ("game" is not the right word)?!

New content is being added to and aligned through substantial updates.
Does Galnet relate 100% as of yet? Seems not. Will it in future? More than very likely.

Why did they not wait until they had finished it before releasing this computer program?

"You guys are going to love Galnet! What? No it doesnt work as yet, but hopefully within a few updates this game feature will be up and running! Cool, eh?!"

Don't know, better to ask "them" really Cmdr.

The license you bought though (assuming did) covers updates into the future.

I reckon the OP counts as a bug.
Posting under that section more likely to get a direct Dev (known issue?) response?

Here's the catch 22, I for one am not paying for any expansions if they don't first properly implement missions in the current game and add some variety to systems.

I do believe a proper missions system is being planned for a future 'free' update. No idea when that's going to be though.

Agree with you, want to see that fleshed too. One thing to bear in mind with Galnet is that it's more interesting to (veteran) roleplay than to the core (flight) mechanic. It would have been nice to see all implement "as one" but I see a certain logic behind implement of wings first. It gets people into co-op play, into piracy even exploring, of more interest to new players before they might get into lore. ("There's a trader, get him," is a bit more introductory to a newb, than news of emergency special sessions in Fed Congress?). Bear with, says I.

My guess stays at 1.3 Power Play. (Powers "that be"?)

Not absolutley sure it is a bug, maybe someone did the story and forgot to 'adjust' the market accordingly, but we've seen this sort of thing before, cmdrs being out of pocket for nothing in return with those "donation" missions, 'donate x million for the cause' to some minor faction your friendly/allied with in return for some rep.

The only new content 1.2 offers is Strong USS, and maybe Smuggling.

Nope. Maybe try it first.

Put it this way, if you cant make money from the pew pew in 1.2, then give up.

Lots of tweaks to costs of repairs etc, NPC wings so you may interdict a crappy sidewinder. but then have to fend of 3 or 4 Cobras or Sideys each worth a decent amount of moolah, you don't even have to go near the SSS.

i rushed over a couple of times as soon as i saw the galnet article to find that it wasnt ready yet... now i just wait for the story to develop

The way it should work is that the event happens first, then a few days later Galnet reports on it. That way any pilots who are working locally will get the benefit of the event first. Rather than post it, get an influx of pilots, then launch the event. The guys working those areas should see the benefit of their actions before anyone else does.
