Release 1.2. is great!

I just found out that the Trespass warning when you try to dock without permission starts a little earlier now - I don't think I was even in the toast rack before it went off.
.
There's now an audible sound for the FSD cooldown as well, took me a few jumps to figure out what it was.
.
Most impressive for me, Super Cruise is much, much smoother for me, although I've not been in areas with lots of CMDRs yet.

Not just Wings is great. There are a lot of little tweaks that improve the game for me.

I admit I am a bit shocked about the price of the Vulture, but I sure won't lose sleep over it.
The FDL's price would be fine to me if it had a better jump rage.
It is a ship with only minimal cargo space. Trading is out of the question. So it should be a good bounty hunter, which means it should also be able to follow it's targets. It's jump range is a handicap I think.

I don't want to start a second "price discussion", but let's just say I don't think the FdL is aimed at the "working class" that buys it's ship according to their "usefulness" :D

Can't really say if the Vulture is adequately priced, but I tend to agree with you on that on.

Anyway, all of the cool new features in 1.2 can be enjoyed in any ship, not just in the new ones. So I'd really urge people to try the new features with their current ships before rage quitting over some ship prices.

Is anyone having issues with the following;

1. Wing invites not showing up / timing out
2. Trade vouchers not always being paid
3. Some members of wing invisible / different instance

Its not geolocation as we are all UK based.

Tend to agree, imho 1.2 is a success. Whole beta phase and implementation was way better compared to 1.1. So far i haven't noticed a bug. Tomorrow i will take a closer look into Wings with a friend of mine. Only downside and something i feel sorry for our more combat oriented community, is the Vulture price. Had high hopes that the vulture might be a nice successor to the Viper and Cobra within reasonable reach.

I don't care one jot about the new ships. I already have the Clipper which is all the ship I need. Enough space for a bit of trading, hard enough to take on anything, the best cockpit I've seen so far and now the repair costs have dropped I'm happy to take it into dangerous areas. I do agree that all the bigger ships are significantly too expensive, but meh. I'm not that bothered about them. I'm used to that in games. There were lots of cars in Gran Turismo I would have loved to have had but wasn't prepared to pay the real world cash to buy the in game credits to buy. At least FD aren't going down that route.

This patch though. Well, what can I say. It's fantastic. Maximum kudos to the devs. They've really pulled it off his time.

This will bring lots of players back into the game. My son bought the game when I did but stopped playing after a while. We like to play games together but it really seemed like playing a single player game at the same time before. Now, with all the features of wings it's a real co-op game. We've just spent the evening at the RES in Dakvar and had the time of our lives. The increased variety there and being able to see which ships each other is targeting makes fighting together so much more rewarding and now that we're sharing bounties there's no more "No, after you Claude"

i was happy about it so i thought i would to the founders world to buy a anaconda get there and poof gone........

Where has he gone?

Agreed. Wings as a properly implemented multiplayer mechanic is an absolute game changer. Even though I didn't buy ED for the MP aspect, I really enjoyed flying with wingmen so far and I know there are many gamers out there who do care a lot more about multiplayer than me and therefore will be absolutely delighted with how 1.2 turned out!

Even though nobody seems to be interested in anything but the new ships' prices, I think "Wings" is great!

  • the group mechanic works like a charm
  • much improved AI, finally posing a challenge
  • ability to repair broken modules via system reboot (in addition to being useful it looks really cool!)
  • much reduced hull repair costs
  • reduced fines for smuggling
  • distance between stations and star in system map
  • remaining jumps of route displayed in navigation menu

And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

So, keep complaining about the ship prices, everyone, and continue to overlook the important game play improvements that have been made, I am off enjoying Wings :p

I agree, this update is really good. Ship prices seem reasonable too, but they should add the cheaper ships from the previous games.

I did the beta so I know how good the new features are but the Vultures price has changed my game plan somewhat, probably for the better.

I don't trade grind or whatever it's called so I have 2 options.

1. Refit my Asp to a trader and do rares while using my cobra to occasionally join my squad mates in a bit of wings fun. Then buy a vulture of course keeping the asp and the cobra or

2. Run rares in the cobra and also join in the wings fun then buy a second trading Asp to run rares up to vulture level.

I like to simply slip into the ship that is designed for a purpose rather than go through all the refitting so option 2 seems favorite. It'll take some time but the "wings" part will just keep me entertained in the meantime. I'll have to put my exploration urges on hold for a while but once you've flown the Vulture for a while and finally got it set up correctly it's just pure entertainment.

But 1.2, great patch. Bodes well for the future.

Says it all. And called it on the money.

There was a lot of negative feedback during 1.2 beta but the atmosphere was good and the positive feedback was everywhere. We all knew what would happen once it went live though.

1.2 is one of the best updates the game's seen so far. Obviously not good enough.

The problem with the ship prices goes away once combat gets better rewards. And that's going to happen eventually (ahem - Braben's pre-alpha newsletter video). What's irritating is I know, without even bothering to wade through the vitriol, is that not a lot of posters will think to suggest this or anything constructive for a solution and will just revert to the usual deconstructive negativity.

I think it's excellent that ships cost millions. But the game is crying out for other careers to step up to the plate. Besides that, 1.2 is brilliant and there's so much to be pleased with. I can't wait to play (can't until tomorrow).

+rep to the OP.

nice bts how do you change tabs in chat only can talk in local
Problem is (or was in the 1.2 beta) that when hitting "4" to open that panel its immediately set to text input, as in - ready to chat. To quit that you have to hit ESC, and NOW you can use Q,E to move left/right (as in all other menues in the ship). Maybe the 1.2 release fixed that instant input chat box activated when hitting "4" so you dont have to ESC to flip to the other options.

1.2 looks great so far, most of the stuff I wanted and a few extras.

The wing invite works nicely, auto starts voicecomms, very smooth and easy to use. Interdictors popping up in purple, sweet!

Two things that could do with a tweak....

Can we bind a key to activate beacon rather than using the menu?
My navlock keeps unlocking, I might be doing something wrong here though.

Played the beta tested out many ships including the Fer-De-Lance. Had my first go at 1.2 this evening and it was great. Though I am back in my Cobra, its a great ship. Teamed up with a guy from US and we had a blast. He had only played a week but he liked the new patch to. I dont mind ships being expensive. Then you have a goal to reach and something to look forward to. And if all is going to fly Fer-De-Lances wouldnt it be boring. Special ships should be for those who work for it and deserve it. I guess I have a job to do if I want to fly a Fer-De-Lance. :p The howl from its engines are fantastic and the weapon load out you can have on it is very good. If Frontier should make the bounties higher for us combat players I wouldnt cry over it though :D

All in all I think the patch is amazing. I too winged up with someone and it made the fighting experience so much better. I was able to quickly respond to his need when another CMDR attacked him and it eliminated the need to try to instance with someone. There is only 1 thing I didn't like but I will not even mention it because FD and their staff are always getting beat up when all they did was create a beautiful game. They also take player input very seriously and I am sure the issue I am having will be fixed in the next patch. Rock on FD!

Yes the first time you team up with someone and share bounties and attack targets together it really feels like "they nailed it with this patch". Coop is fun. And "wings" is great :)

The repair costs now make it more viable to do a little bounty hunting (RES) in my Asp. Now i just need to make sure i dont boost into an asteroid and total the ship!

Lol - I did exactly that, had upgraded everything except the life support system. It didnt end well :)

They've put a option in the controls section to turn off the auto text focus behaviour. Makes it work much better. :)

Best couple of hours I have had in the game in weeks. Been saving up so got a Vulture and after some experimenting (2 lasers kept overheating and racked up the w&t bill) so put a beam laser on one side and a big-ass canon on the other. Went to my favourite Nav Beacon and it was like Saturday night in Soho! One AI wing was a Competent plus a Dangerous Anacondas with a Viper buzzing around in support, and got to kill my first FDL. Really like all the little improvements like showing the 'wanted' sign on the target scanner as red, and a few nice new sound effects. Not played with wings yet but looking forward to it.

Well,at long last multiplayer happened. Overdue, but it's here.

The new chat interface is much better, but I have a minor complaint about it - first, when pressing 2, you immediately switch to typing. I think it'd be less clumsy if calling up the comms interface did just that instead of doing one better and opening a local chatbox.

Second gripe - when chatting with out-of-wing people, the box doesn't remember the last recipient, so enter-type-enter turns at est to enter, /r(or tab), type, enter.

Good stuff though. Revolutionary even, though just for ED.
