Xbone dumbing down in the background (simulation) has started

They said it wouldn't, never believed it for 1 minute...
Fuel prices slashed to a ridiculous amount, repair costs made redundant, ship prices lowered for instant gratification...All immediately after the Console announcement...A coincidence? maybe, personally ive seen it all before...Take World Of Warcraft, on release an awesome challenging game...Activision buys Blizz out and the dumbing down for the epeens starts...Now you can get from 1-100 without losing any health or breaking a sweat, completely different game...

Ive been reading these forums since closed beta, you can see the age group has dropped drastically...The "you know you played to much elite when" like threads are everywhere...
Unfortunately publishers see this as the current market and tailor the games around it...
Sadly Elite Dangerous indeed looks like the balls started rolling and with the console port immanent this could just be the start of the overall difficulty being scaled from HARD to NOVICE...

Also can't see how it has anything to do with the background simulation.

Yeah...what are you talking about here?

...and you are implying the actual background sim is smart to begin with...which it isn't really.

For me those threads are no way an indication of age - I've been tempted to reply on those threads with my thoughts and I'm no spring chicken...

As to whether or not the latest changes are due to the console news I say they are not. I've been involved in plenty of online games where balance between aspects of the game go up and down it just seems to be part of the continuing task of trying to get the balance right - that's what I believe it is.

Haters are going to hate, lovers are going to love...

Nothing against consoles, I play the PS4 a lot, but the console market is aimed at the younger generation and publishers know this...Kids enjoy instant gratification with little consequences so they tailor-make games around those fundamentals...

Oh no! The game is fun and rewarding! Everybody hide!

Hey maaaan, other people had to SUFFER to get where they are. Instead of fixing the things that made people suffer, we should honour said suffering by making sure the next guys coming along also suffer. That's fair and just and good for the game.

I see the fuel and repair prices a good thing. Before once you got past the cobra you HAD to get a fuel scoop. It was not a option if you wanted to make money. As for repair prices before the minute shields got low or dropped people fled. You had to or you could not fight and make anything. Now people can push it to win and not run once the fight is halfway over.

As for the loan amount yes that is giving in to bad choices a bit and I think should be handled better but it is a stopgap move to avoid people from hurting themselves. The sad part is that now they can lose even more.

I am glad to see the latest round of changes as a good thing for the game as a whole and it allows people to actually fight and not just truck things from point A to B. Now just give us something more to do in missions or background sim.

...judging by your post, age seemingly isn't a indicator of coherency, so I don't quite see how it can relate to the 'dumbing down' of video games.

I get it, you are another trader who made his millions with buggy code, and now you want to lord it over other players........upset that the new ships are within reach of regular players? It really shows.

Don't be silly.
As a backer you should be happy for funding this project at the very least with all your numerous rewards.
Iron man mode is awesome, and if that ain't hard enough, go play offline by yourself while wearing your Elite backers tshirt with pride.
Maybe buy a limited edition skin for your ship to cheer yourself up.

Oh wait...

Don't you think that the repair prices should have been dropped as the previous prices excluded any opportunity to bounty hunt or to pirate using expensive ships such a Python, Anaconda, Asp etc.? Single interdiction could cause 5-7% damage on average with the repair costs of over 70k Cr (in case of a Python). Now this damage would result in 5-10 k Cr repairs and simply offers more game play opportunities.

As for the fuel costs. Have you seen any information about different grades of fuel available in the game, or different types of fuel scoops for different ships, or anything about expensive ships not being able to refuel from the stars that can be used to refuel cheaper ships? I've heard nothing about this. So I assume that each ship uses the same fuel type for now.

So can you explain how it was possible that the same type of fuel and the same amount of fuel cost 1.5k Cr to refuel Type 7 and 16k Cr to refuel a Python (both have 32t fuel tanks, 10% of fuel)?
