Just had a flashback from WOW where sevral Guilds showed up infront of a New Dungeon and spur of the moment all got told to jump, whit the result the game server crashed from the sudden surg of info to prosses.

From yesterday's newsletter:
The first alpha release is on its way! In the initial phase we’re focusing on single player combat, using a number of different scenarios. This will let us work with the Alpha testers to hone the flight controls in a relatively controlled way, before letting them all loose against each other in player vs player mayhem!
Yes you're correct I believe, that's the first alpha release anyway. Later alpha patches will include multiplayer scenarios, and other stuff (I expect docking, trading, hyperspace, missions and so forth). A lot to fit into the supposedly ~1 month for alpha, I fully anticipate the alpha to beta period to be extended beyond that. That's assuming they want to alpha test all the "bits" before launching an integrated beta, anyway.

It really does seem likely that you'll be limited by the server.

Any crazy ideas (no energy bombs) for the actual official launch, like everyone stacked on top of each other. Nearer the time we'll have to make some arrangements for meeting up in instances and locations...

But beta/gamma will hopefully be possible!

Will everyone not just end up in different instances if there are too many ships. The last I heard it was 32 player ships but maybe they are working to increase that.
I what am hoping to do is to get invited into different instances. I have access to all of the start positions, so I would create a temporary commander, take photos in each instance and then delete the commander and choose another start position. Each start position would have a specific time window for those that want a photo.
Nearer the time I would contact each commander via PM and arrange a start position meeting point. On the original post will be a list of commanders and their start position along with a meeting time... on the fly arrangements via teamspeak and/or the elite chat client would also be helpful.
This may mean that you would be in an instance without anyone else having their photo taken
Each photo would then be uploaded to my website and I would then edit the original post to add a link for each commander.
I will be booking 2 weeks holiday for the launch, so I wont be in a rush to actually get on with my main commander.
I will testing this during betas and gamma, so if you have access and can help out then please drop me a PM now.

i thought it was you way back in Jan was sorting a group photo session? maybe it was someone else, i know there's a thread somewhere about it.but am up for it, but if its official i think i will be starting Founders world, guess it will depend on distances for me if elsewhere.
