we really want to come accross "Justin Biber
Speak for yourself.
we really want to come accross "Justin Biber
Nonsense , if ED is in the future why wouldn't there be stations named after cult hero's like Pratchett and Nimoy.
“Today the city, tomorrow the world.”
"Tomorrow the world, and - " he calculated quickly, "on Friday the universe! Good, that leaves the weekend free..."
It is possible to disagree with someone and NOT circumvent the swear filter to insult them.
EDIT: Post reported because I find this post offensive (and it's not even aimed at me)
On the other hand...do we really want to come accross "Justin Biber Station" ?![]()
I've edited quoting you in my post to match your edited post. You are absolutely right, my apologies, I have changed my original post so as to not offend your delicate sensibilities.
I think this is a it unsettling. How far is FD going to change their world, to turn it into a memorial? Renaming a station? A faction? A planet? A system? When do you go past a nice homage into something that can break the game world? If FD have done two memorials like this in a short period, are they planning on allowing for more?
Does ir
Does it really matter much? Today I killed Syd Barrett (NPC pirate), It hasn't broken my game at all.
Yes, I think it matters, as much as the world, the factions and the elements in it matter. And if these do not, then they should.
I was actually a bit offput when they added all those backer NPC names. Suddenly, the world was swarming with 21st century popcultural references. It seems like FD have changed that around, though. A lot of the extremes seem to be gone.
A system of one and a half million that in unison decides to rename all their major political factions in reference to the works of a relatively significant writer who died 1300 years ago.
I don't think the problem is any name references... - it would be very hypocritical of me to go against that, since the generic station naming system always takes the name of a famous person, it's the best way to see if a station was authored or generated. Try googling the station name. If someone with a Wikipedia page shows up, then it's probably a generated station (well, except for Gorachev, Kennedy, and those).
Hey mate your allowed your opinion, it is just as valid as anyone's and full respect for that. I just play games myself and maybe I am not so bothered by what others see as immersion breaking. I play for fun . For me its just a nice little recognition call to one of the UK's greatest si fan writers and micky tacking swiper at life and its nuances. Sometimes rules should be bent IMHO.
I heard today code is being written into all web pages to pay respect to TP so he is immortalized I really should inspect FD's code and see if its there hehehe.
Fly safe.
I think it's pretty obvious that the only memorial stations will be for 'Nerdland Heroes' and not for every man and his dog. If people find it crazy that things like this happen in a game then they are probably biting down on life a little hard. It will matter naught in a few years.
It's a nerd thing... that's obvious. (no hate on nerds!, just that's the slant)

Bye bye!!!!
Here Here, lets meet down the Drum for a pint
That question is up to the devs. It's their game.who is, and who isn't?
