[KICKSTARTER] Uncle Art: Elite II Orchestral Music Remakes

[KICKSTARTER] Uncle Art: Elite II Orchestral Remakes - FUNDED!!!

hi gang,

Third time lucky; thanks for all your comments and support; the team behind this superb project had to cancel and re-think after a hardware failure, so here is the link to their new kickstarter campaign.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/124468523/uncle-art-a-temporal-shift

I'm also going to use the same reason for posting this thread here:

As a backer of Dangerous, I thought the Frontier music would appear, at least as an easter egg.

In an ideal world Frontier Developments would simply allow bolt-on soundscapes to E: D, so any artist(s) can transform the themescape to whatever they like; and we can have 'Classic' as well as modern themes to buy as content packs. Sound fun?

The issue. These things cost, and to do a proper job, with a real orchestra of instruments and sounds (not a fake desktop job) costs, and right now thats in the way of progress.

This Kickstarter aims to make those themes, AND OTHERS, and then we can have a few more possibilities.

Please Bump this thread!

Spread the Word! :)

thanks.

I wonder if they might be doing something like this:

Hi, this appeared in the kickstarter forum and to the backers, hope you dont mind a re-post here:

Something magical appeared out of the Uncle Art archives yesterday!

It's an original studio recording demo that was written for Frontier Elite 2 that never ended up being used. There was only 2 original themes that were commissioned for Elite 2 so given that we have the Main Theme and Second Theme, for reasons un-remembered this theme never even got submitted.

You can hear how in line it is with the other Frontier pieces and interestingly enough it uses the same 2 chords Carrier Command. This piece uses C9 to F#6 (actually a very unusual chord change!) and Carrier Command is C7 to variations of an F#. Obviously that change was a bit of an influence on DL in that time and it wasn't enough to just use it in Carrier Command!

Shame this piece never got used for anything though, I really like it. I think it sounds quite spacey and intriguing as well as battle-y. I love the drums! What are your thoughts?

This piece will be included in the stretch goal bonus Collected Works and Bootlegs Signed CD if it gets there.

And here is the piece which we will call for now......
Frontier Elite 2: The Lost Theme ??
Frontier Elite 2: Lost In Space Theme ???
Frontier Elite 2: Lost In Time Theme ??
Frontier Elite 2: Lazarus Theme! (Back from the dead!) ???

Title suggestions GREATLY welcomed! :)

30 days left to go with this kickstarter, and they are over the 9K mark this time.

They need 40k+ to make the epic music, and at least 33k to make this happen at all,

It would be great if everybody could spread the word.

thanks

Here's an update on this:

Evening all! Got a couple of things that would be GREAT if you could help us with.

1) Chris Abbott one of our backers here has made an awesome poster for the project! And so it's a great thing to be able to share and hurl all over the internet at people as it explains things succinctly and strikingly and looks brill all at the same time! Here it is and just please spread it like Lurpac all over!

Cool hey?

And 2.

I've entered the world of THUNDERCLAP! If you don't know about it - it's where you get people to lend their 'social voice' to your project or cause and if you get 100 people or more to agree to it then it sends out a predetermined Tweet / FB / Tumblr post from everyone's account at exactly the same time so that it creates a sort of 'BOOM' trending infiltration of social media! I thought it would be good to do one at the end, but it would be nice to practice with one for the middle of the run, so I've set one up that will go out Tuesday evening. We need at least 100 people to sign up to it for it to work, so please please do! It doesn't do anything nasty or post without your permission, it will just send one tweet from your twitter feed / FB at 9pm on Tuesday about this project! Here's the URL https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/24831-uncle-art-kickstarter-midway and please try get other people to Thunderclap this too!

It'll be interesting to see if / how it works! I had very limited characters so couldn't write very much at all and had already put an image to it before I saw Chris' awesome poster and it's too late to change it, but we have it for the next one.

Anyway so please help us spread the word about this by sharing the poster and joining our Thunderclap! Remember you can only get the album if you back it on Kickstarter and it will only happen at all if the Kickstarter reaches its funding goal so let's make it happen!!

Cheers all

Yep backed the original and this resurrected one too. Now at £11,000+ so 1/3 of the way to the goal :) (I'm hoping there were more than 200 people who played Frontier: Elite II and enjoyed the music (and that's not even mentioning all the Amiga games Lowe composed for)

Honestly if you're planning on recording a real full orchestra and want to do it real justice, I think you're going to have to at least quadruple your budget, but I wish you lots of luck with that!

As for fake orchestra (ie mock-ups) they've come a LONG way now, in the hands of a skilled producer they can sound really lovely. Blakus probably being the best example, his mock-ups put some real recordings to shame!

The project hit 12K today, so thats still a long way off what they need to make this massive, but this has so much potential that I hope many backers will take the plunge and make their pledge soon.

If the kickstarter doesnt make the first goal, nobodys cash gets deducted, so it doesnt matter if you pledge £10 or £10,000 at this stage. The 33k is the very base price from any of this, and as mentioned, they need x4 times this amount to work with an orchestra with the word "Royal" or "National" in the title.

E: D backers raised a million quid for the new game we have today, so if perhaps 4% of those people back this, its a done deal.

@ INaeem - thanks buddy, see signature. :)

There is just 2 weeks remaining on this kickstarter, and they are just about to hit the 50% mark.

I know its still possible to make a difference, and this may never happen again....
