Elite boring?

Oh I am not from UK. I am from a much much worse place.

The thing is I do not really know... I usually enjoy trading. But... Well I do plan to hang on. We'll see in a year...

Current pacifist game roles: Explorer (past 500 light years), Trading (in a Clipper, you dictate if you want to fight or not). As far as the mercy thing goes, horrible people like me would just as soon gun down someone begging rather than let them go. Perhaps the AI assumes this?

It is ok I guess. The problem is that I really can not have immersion in the game when everybody I meet is a psychopath, without any attempt of self preservation...

Immersion is the thing the game lacks the most... That and gameplay... And content... And free icecream... :D

I guess everything has been said before... So we will see in a year or so. I definitively will lurk around...

How do you like rare trading?
Seeking out new places that stock rares can be fun maybe?

well i'm liking exploration more with the discovered first meta, that can keep me entertained for a while, loved playing with the vulture while there were combat sites in my home system, now the civil war ended, decided to buy an asp for exploring.

the vulture just doesn't have the fuel bay for it. but the asp is much more fun to do it with i was totally expecting to end up out of fuel with the vulture, headed toward a triple black hole system but half way i ran into a chain of unscoopable stars and it started getting hairy so i turned back.. I can play this first discovery meta for a while, there are some nice things to hunt for, system compositions are diverse enough to make it a constant hunt for vistas and interesting planet layouts, trying to find the rarer stars, systems with the most celetials, systems with the most specific celetials, systems with the furthest reaching celetials, yes it can be a bit boring at least not very engaging (doesn't require any effort) but it is interesting and is keeping me entertained. so i feel converted so far (yes i do hope it gets deeper over time, i like deep games, being an X-series and old eve player), no more negativity from me though, gunna enjoy what is there and see what happens to elite over the coming years. making it a mission to rack up as many first discoveries as possible. it seems i'm not the only one with this plan, but even if i end up on a path thats been travelled i still get to find these sometimes hilarious commander names, won't give any examples i might get a warning hah.

If you were in the UK you most likely could ask for a refund according to the Sale of Goods Act 1979 as the game is not of satisfactory quality, does not fit for its purpose and it's not how it's been advertised.

I want to comment on my thoughts on the following idea's since they are quite interesting.
1. Combat
- actually join a faction and stay with them (fed, alliance, etc) wherever you are. Sporting a Fed rank and decide to rock up to a CSG station? hell no, you should be dead before you have a chance to request docking. - Could be interesting though at the same time currently it supports you being able to support multiple factions, be a true mercenary if you will, though maybe those that officially align could get bonus, while the current ability remain?
- be able to join the navy of a faction and actually do proper naval combat missions eg. patrols, escort, attack, etc. Think Tie Fighter or Wing Commander. - Same as above, quite interesting
- larger more thought out battles - I don't know what you mean by this, battles, you mean like support comes in and such
- ability to damage/destroy stations. - This is tricky, would need a way to build stations as well, that the stations should be insanely tough, and take more then just a wing or two to take down without getting plugged out of the sky? since otherwise you'd see griefers destroying stations just to annoy traders and such
2. Trading
- online trading data available everywhere - This one I would say no to, would make trading way way too easy, at least now people need to go find the good price spots and such and communicate and such share with others, trading data being available to everyone (gathering you mean the traderoutes) would give way too big an indicator? and people can already buy trade data from nearby systems?
- ability to set up your own mining station like an FBO - build it then offer jobs to import/export stock so that you have a proper trading system - Asteroid stations are coming eventually, I'm guessing but these would seem to be part of this at the very least.
3. Mining
- better way to collect mining fragments - oh gods yes please, having to hunt down ever spinning little ore is frustrating, sure if you align just right they will line up fairly nicely but still.
- ability to mine planets - eh huh? from a ship? planetary landing and then mining? might be coming?
- ability to set up auto droids to mine for you - quite tricky with the whole automation thing but if they simply were a replacement to mining lasers or 'better' way of mining, then it'd be fine in my opinion since you still need to go there and launch said droids?
- ability to set up small mining colonies on planets - would like to see this when planetary landing comes in, and/or mining stations when asteroid stations comes around?
- mineral scanners (small, large) to scan asteroids - yeah this seems to be missing
4. Missions
- ability to create user generated missions - could you give examples of how this would work? or referring to like traders hiring people to escort them in a mission style?
- more mission types - well we just got quite a few more with wing update so it seems to be something frontier is working on so more are coming?

thats just some of the many things you could do with ED - others have way better suggestions.

I don't particularly like pirates, traders or mission targets just hanging around in normal space waiting for you to decide to visit.
I definitely don't like that they so obviously spawn where you happen to be. Fly slowly through a system and they appear at the same rate as flying fast.

  • Ships should at least give the impression that they are doing something. So all ships should be in supercruise or around stations, rings etc, unless they have a reason not to be. - Yeah, npc's being part of background simulation would be cool, hopefully it will come with time, so npc's don't just exist on the client.
  • They should at least seem to be created from NPCs interacting with each other. - This actually seems happens, just tricky to see, but when you see sudden wake's popping up, some blips on the sensor at times vanish, haven't tried jumping into one of those random wakes though maybe I should try?
  • NPC ships interdicting each other could create a USS from a distress signal or weapons fire detected. - Yeah there are some of this happening when you arrive in the USS but would be nice if you could get those distress signals without having to enter first, maybe relate it to the report crimes on me thing, like system forces do now?
  • I would think a distress call from a damaged ship or ship under attack would be detectable from a longer range than a cargo canister floating through space. - See above
  • Mission targets could be found at stations, in supercruise, RESs, combat zones, fuel scooping, etc. If they are in normal space, maybe they are waiting to meet someone or something? If so they should be found at a specific point (which you discover during the course of the mission). Maybe in orbit above a planet. Lets have some action up close to some of the beautiful sights in the galaxy. - As an idea being able to find places that don't pop up on the discovery scanner, but rather instead when you approach a certain coordinate they would pop up like USS or such, would be so very very nice, kinda like voyager probe but shouldn't show on discovery scanner?
  • Ships trying to contact you should be able to do so from Supercruise, requesting you to stop if necessary. - They do, though right now they do like.....1 sec before they interdict you, but yeah would be nice if the police forces and such broadcasted to you, to drop out for scan, and when you do they actually come over and scan you, where at least before wing, they interdicted, and just flew around randomly, and would be nice if pirates players contacted people first, since they can drop into player wakes easy enough, or maybe it would be more a thing mercenaries do?
  • Etc, Etc.

I can't seek a refund, and had not thought about it until recently. Now I'm debating whether to just sell my account, or continue waiting like a fool this company made me out to be.

could you guys help me plz ? i"ve some friends which never tried elite seing me playing for a week, i'm already back on WT but i had some fun stealing cargos with my poor 10 000 000 ASP, this is the only thing we can do right now if we're only interested about pvp right ? i've never seen any player that i could kill with a decent bounty so...

cause second me, you play this game as if you were on your own other players are doing likewise

" Yeah maybe we didn't but then show us what's inside cause i don't want a farming simulator

The game has never been about progression.

The game has always been about progression. Unfortunately now days your progression is a delicate fragile thing at the mercy of pirates and insurance. Bring back full games state saves (cargo) when you are docked.

trainding should be interesting and more challenging, bots arn't a threat only players are dangerous and i'm talking on big routes. I had more fun on world of warcraft trading goods like a trader not a trucker with my awesome KODO.

You haven't even started to scratch the surface.
One day is enough to see everything that this game has to offer. There's nothing to see in this game. If you have seen several star systems, you've seen them all. Same with stations, missions, professions and ships. It's all just copy-paste of the same stuff.

Damn straight. Those development slackers didn't even deem it neccesary to get out of bed early to customize a few billion star systems.

I mean ... really. Can a gamer get a little effort out of these people?
They could have made, for instance, 15 station types instead of 4 and have different station types prevalent in Federation/Alliance/Empire to give them more flavor. No one cares about billions of systems because they are copy-pasted and there's nothing of interest in them.

How about Coaster Park Tycoon then???

I've been playing the game for a week, it seems there's nothing to do except farm.
Either by fighting random wanted enemies or by trading:

Trade rout: Trade > earn enough to upgrade > buy a ship with more storage > repeat

Fight rout: kill wanted targets > upgrade modules / ship > kill wanted targets > repeat

There's really no sense of progress except farming money.

There's no real exploration, nothing new to do...

Perhaps Coaster Park Tycoon is more your cup of tea?

from frontier thread:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=105432

Frontier became the acknowledged leading developer of Tycoon games for its work on the RollerCoaster Tycoon® franchise, particularly its development of 2004’s 10M unit-selling PC game RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 which is still considered the benchmark of the Tycoon genre, more than ten years after its release in 2004.

Coaster Park Tycoon, scheduled for 2016 release on PC, is intended to raise that benchmark for ‘Tycoon’ gameplay even further by combining accessible creative features with a sophisticated simulation.
