Mercenaries of Mikunn - The Background Simulation and Colonization Test

Hey gang, thanks for reaching out. I'm interested for sure, but I have to ask do you guys have active folks on around 2:00AM CST?

Usually we have petered off by then, but a few should still occasionally be on. But its never too late to start having more people around at that time. In fact, I'm trying to build a group in that time zone.

I am not usually one around 2AM except maybe on Saturdays but I am on usually around 6PM to 9PM every other night. I live in the CST time zone too, Illinois USA. Where are you at?

Have you guys successfully taken a station out-of-system with an expanded faction? We just won our first civil war and... nada. Nothing changed hands at all. Have you had success here?

Nope. We haven't even had a Civil War triggered with the Dukes of Mikunn, even though we should have on a couple of occasions. We've only managed to flip a station with non-expanded factions (Hiraga from HR 7327 Dynamic Commodities to Law Party of HR 7327).

Well just a heads up then, since we seem to be a bit ahead of you (we flipped our first non-expanded station a bit ago, and have just finished our first expanded civil war. Bad news?) - it doesn't seem to work. Worse, it trashes your influence everywhere else - we lost 60% of our influence in our primary system when our expanded faction got into its civil war, and the civil war ended with nothing in that system changing hands. The plummet only stopped the moment the civil war ended, so it seems closely tied. Having not gotten into one yet yourselves may be a blessing in disguise.

I can confirm that civil wars are now bugged.

I posted some info in your bug report that you be useful.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=132830

The unsual influence changes for expanded factions that are in conflict in another system has also been noticed in several systems. The civil wars (soon to be wars for expanded factions, if things are working correctly) seems to be the cause. The exact nature of the bug is anyone's guess as we don't have complete info relating to the mechanics of the background sim.

Our home-system has 100% and is the only faction, so we wouldn't notice a home system influence loss, it has no where to go.

However, it makes me happy other people have really started pushing this as well. Thanks a bunch. It makes our work all the more relevant.

Don't be so confident, maybe your influence will start bleeding off into empty space. ;) But honestly I never realized the Dukes were completely alone in their home system. I've explored lots of systems and never found one like that. That's a damned sweet setup you got there, and explains how you managed to get such a head start on everyone else with your expansion experiments!

Lol, why do you think I chose it?:p

I hope this is the right place to post it.

Greetings from Lugh. Just heard the news, first time i've heard of it. I dont have any heavy ships, but everyone else is kinda tied up building up influence. (Kinda important to cement ourselves before the next fight starts, i beleave we have people who are working against us) Do you want me to come over? I can bring an Asp for trading, Vulture or Viper for fighting... and thats about it.

Also understand that i wont be able to do a whole lot till the weekend. I work from 5 AM to 3:45 PM, so i'm kinda tied up for time. Saturdays and Sundays are when i have the most time to play.

Don't worry about it. Thanks for the gesture. Take care of yourselves on the homefront first. I think it boils down to a communication issue. There will be another chance to help us, no doubt.

If you could clear that up with Galnet, that would be nice. PR can be dangerous, you know.

Hmmm. Just listened to it. Everything they said is true.

What I mean by "It boils down to a communication issue" is that after you won in Lugh (gave you all my guys for a week, another half for another week), we asked for assistance, (5 guys for 5 days, secret mission). I got the affirmative from Roybe, then 3 days into the Op I was told by Roybe CSG wasn't coming (I told him it was ok, just take care of home). Easy job compared to the amount we gave you but I got backed out on because I was told Orfeboy called people back.

Its fine, but our plans got thrown for a loop because I thought CSG were coming. From what I've gathered from Orfeboy, he didn't know about the mission that was promised, and didnt realize until just recently that they reneged on it (even though I posted in his thread...). Sounds like communication issues within Crimson State.

I'm not really irritated, I understand why CSG went back home, though I'm not sure why all the CSG leadership wasn't aware of what was happening before, during, or after. I just wish I had been told you couldn't come in the first place, rather than me making plans and then having to cancel them and wasting three days.

Regardless, there will be another opportunity, in the meantime take care of home. No mercs swarm or anything is coming your way to fight against you :p

As some of you may know, you can be in other groups if you are a mercenary.

I'm going to write up our first list of rules about being in multiple groups. As you could imagine, I foresee future problems in this area and I wish to head them off. Stay tuned.
