FD: Apparently Elite got noticed, not in a good way

Whatever they are doing in EVE, for good or ill, it has certainly given them a drastically inflated view of what they can do in Elite.
Yeah, in ED you are insignificant and are basically fighting your local random number generator disguised as the "Universe" most of the time. Sure, you can annoy some players, unlucky to get instanced with you, but that's the only PvP option available anyway. So, if you pee v pee, that's what you do, Eve or not.

Any proof of that? Or did you just make it up?

Most people play PVE, not PVP. To try and attempt to claim that most people picked it up for the multiplayer is just not something you can back up.

Where did I say PvP?
I don't think you can deny that most people play in open, which is the MULTIPLAYER part of the game.

The EVE Of Distraction

As an '09 EVE player who got bored and left it on autopilot a few years ago...

I, for one, welcome their game purchase cash flow into FD's metaphorical pockets. Except for the Goons, of course. Anything but them!

Naw, just kidding. The Goons are all right (and welcome to ED if you're actually here!).

It *is* a kind of back-handed compliment to ED though, if it's seen as so successful that it poses a threat to Eve. Not that it does, of course - there must be room for more than one space sim game in this world.

There will always be someone who wants to destroy something that they see as good, simply for the sake of bringing everyone down to their own low level, encouraging mediocrity. Shame.

Hang on, Eve and ED play in completely different ways. One is more of a RTS/spreadsheet game the other focuses on actual pilot skill. It's like a bunch of Street Fighter players are going to a cage fight to grief the actual cage fighters. They'll get shredded!
:
The primary advantages Eve Corps have are pretty much nullified by ED's design.
Numbers - 32 player instance limit nullifies that advantage
Cash - as a bunch of new players they will have no cash and therefore inferior kit
Single instance - no actual way any corps can dominate all instances
Player driven economy - can't manipulate the ED economy in the same way
Player owned stations/capital ships - nope, not in ED.

Ok, so they pay 50 euro for this game, because they dont like it and they want to troll it?
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL :D :D :D

EVE community must be even more silly than it was when I left. Did they even imagine, they are in fact supporting us, real ED players? :D

All that would happen is the core systems would become difficult in open that is all. Hit the solo button and who cares if that happens. If it's Moo or Goons they are cats really tbh and they add a certain excitement to the game. No one has ever managed to stop people playing a game and ED is even easier to get out of the way of any group trying to control it.

Nothing to worry about . In fact I hope they try it because it will inject some cash into FD's coffers and go towards game upgrade resources . Any group trying to gank ED out of existance will soon find out that they have wasted their money . Bring it on I look forward to the flame fests on the forums , Ill provide the popcorn .

This sounds like a load of FUD to me. I talk to a lot of EVE players, most of them just aren't interested in ED. The ones that are are thrilled that another spaceship MMO has come along, and that it has a similar open world / pvp anywhere concept behind it.. A lot of them intentionally stay out of it because they dislike the solo/private/open trinity, and want pure open.

The game has sold something like 10,000 units in a weekend.. a handful of surly eve player noobs in sidewinders trying to grief people isn't going to affect the bottom line much, and they'll get bored pretty quickly.

This is the most ridiculous tactic I've ever heard xD

Yeah let tens of dozens of them spend $60, spend countless hours trying to master the controls, even more countless hours earning money to buy ships to grief with, just for the off chance of running into some happless noob amongst 4,000,000,000 stars where you can only see at most 31 other players at any given time, then try to inconvenience them somehow.

I hope they realize they can't just point and click while their ships do all the work or sleep while their character levels up. It actually requires some skill.

Be sure to thank them for spending their money thereby helping to secure the future of the game.

It's actually quite a few more than that, in the 4 days we've been on Steam we've gained around 35,000 new commanders according to the backers app.
