installing issue

hi, im new to all this and a bit of a noob so sorry for basic question

ive downloaded file and put it into C:\Users\daz\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1010

ive then run tcesetup.xlsm and its asking for paths to netlog and appconfig, ive pressed autofind but it doesnt work, its wanting me to manually find them. ive checked the tce folder but cant find them, where are they?

I've just run with beta 6 and it returns an "Error in StartSequence, Error Line: 220, Error (9) Subscript out of range. (I ran the latest setup and all was running fine on beta 4)

And I get Error in Commodity Panel, Error Line: 80, Error (13) Type Mismatch7 opening up the commodity panel.

The new icons are looking very nice!

It has to do with your database, please check it (especially the goods table) or try a backup of it.
 
Ok thanks, I've only got 10 or so entries in it as I restarted from beta 4. Is there a recommended tool that I can use to open / edit it, ideally manually rather than using SQL queries?

Edit:

1. I should have guessed the answer to my question about a recommended tool - MS Access :)

2. I've swapped in the TCE.mdb_clear database and it works fine so yep, it's the database.

3. I have removed the last station from the station table and TCE loads without any issues, so something went wrong with my last data update. I have reverted to a backup from last night.

Is there a way to check and confirm the integrity of the database before it is opened for use? It'll give us early notice something is wrong with the database so we can revert before we add any new data.

Also, is there a way to configure when and how often backups are taken? - I wasn't even aware they were being taken up to now but they have proved useful, thanks!

Click on the destination station box, sort by distance and you should see the stations in the system you're in, the ones you have got data for will show up as "No Data"

well that almost makes sense apart from the bit (the ones you have got data for will show up as "No Data")
surly this is the other way around ststions with No DATA eill show up as "NO DATA"

Very nice, I love the new pic UI and good move on making the PANEL POSITION panel a full, movable window ! :)

Would it be possible to have the option, in the future,
to have the pics horizontal at the top and separated in 2, 5 on the right and 5 on the left,
to keep the look balanced, a bit like the old UI ?

Something like that :

Any Idea why the logbook is repeating the same entries over and over ?

It does that only at stations !

After a while, it causes and Error 28, out of stack space.
My position doesn't update anymore after the error, until I restarted TCE.
and I have to shut it down with the Task manager.

The error reoccurs every 15 min or so, when the memory fills up I guess.


Also, the TOOLTIP option does not stay checked from one session to the next.

Good thinking, perhaps at a later date and if its highly requested. But for now it stays at it is.

That should not happen, i will check this. Appears that issue at any station or, if not, what Sector ID this station have?

The tooltip is only for the session. I dont want to release a new setup for this, because you will see, that you dont need them anymore after a few sessions.

I have been moving some of the panels around in the compact view and changing the Y axis on the Main Menu / Database causes the screen to flicker white and resets the panel to the default position on the left hand side.

+1 to this I've gone back to classic myself as the icons dropping down the left side feel really out of place. Love the new icons though don't get me wrong.

Is there away to move the icon drop down in the panels panel?

Found the issue and will be fixed in next release. Now you can only change the Panel.mdb values for the Y-axis of the Main panel.

With updates you dont need to run the setup, except i told it to do. On reinstall you have to do it.

Yes, you can move it around. Use the Panel Position window for it. There is a bug at the Y-axis, as i said before.

I love the icons as well but have moved them to the right and that has really helped balance things. I've also scaled to 80% (so it uses less space), mainly so I can leave it on all the time :)

I agree for the tooltip I almost don't look at them anymore already.

That was with the Update. I could try to re-install.

I have re-installed
Kept only my Panel.mdb, TCE.mdb and EliteOCR

Installed TCE_V1.39beta1_non-installer.zip
Updated with TCE_V1.39beta6_update.zip
Ran TCE Setup.xlsm
and started TCE.

It started in classic and because I had reduced the Pics to 80% and set X to -91 in compact mode I didn't have access to the menu lol
Should have looked in the old ini what the setting was before I deleted but I did not,
so I fixed it by editing my Panel.mdb and restarting. (not a bug just a "funny" anecdote :))

Anyway the point is that the problem is still happening at all stations.
At some the repetition stops by itself after 4 or 5 times.
at others it keeps going until TCE crashes.

We almost HAVE TO put the pics on the Right side now,
because even reduced, they are in the way of the galaxy map nav box !
Especially bothersome when you get to a new system
because you can't hide the buttons while entering the reference coordinates !
