Well I caved.... upped my pledge

I'm in the first beta which is really cool, but I'd be in the alpha if I was rich, apart from selling body parts thats not going to happen. haha

Roll on the beta!!

I upped my pledge too yesterday to the Digital Download Pack, seemed the obvious thing to do. Where will the backers forum appear when I get it? (and how long does it normally take - it's been 24hrs since I upped my pledge)

took an hour or so for me.

I'd love to go for the £80 digital download or £85 kickstarter special option, but I've just not seen enough to make me confident enough to press that "Buy" button :(

Given how imminent the game is, I'd have liked screen shots and/or videos of space stations, construction yards, general game play and interesting astronomical vistas etc to give a feeling for what's coming. If I'm right, all we've seen thus far is the Capital Ship video and misc. videos mainly of ships in asteroid fields? Or have I missed something?

I'm clearly just too cautious :(

Well, no pressure, and if you aren't sure to do it, just don't :) Problem with sandbox procedural generated games are that they can be only shown if all pieces are in showable state. For FPS game, if you have one FPS level for a game, but rest is still in development, you can fully show it. Not so easy with PG game. They can show us only first alpha level (but we know different scenarios are coming anyway), but they sure have already docking ready, some parts of space stations, etc. But we won't see it until near the end of development.

So just be cool - it's your money and your decision :)

But isn't the release date four or so months away? Surely most things should be "showable" by now?

I have this feeling that FD doesn't show us stuff because they don't want to - they want to keep to surprise us, so that means not showing game in unfinished state. Heck, while alpha in dev video looks playable, even now they drag their feet a little bit. They just have set up high marks for released content.

Remember, there's 60 people working on the game. We have seen about 10 of them :)

I suspect it's just a giant hoax. All will be revealed on April the 1st.

I'd like to put on the plate also that it's British Class.
As opposed to the Daily-shovelful-of-graphics-to-the-face of someone else's project.

Points of view. I've seen enough to give these people a large chuck of my personal hard cash.

Rightfully so, someone else is more cautious.

No one is wrong---
It's just I'm right! :D
J/k...

Are we sure the 50 others are not NPCs?

Backer Deadline

Well, we are almost there and I squeezed out another fiver after coming late to the party, which takes me to 90 quid, which I think is good enough for me.

While I would love to be a Founder, at least I will get the t-shirt and the star map :)

I was expecting my better half to berate me for my spend-thrift-ness, but she was strangely enthusiastic!

So, here's waiting for Beta 2!!

I will definitely have to build a new PC for this!!

Minti2

Deadly, But very fluffy...

Be suspious, be very suspicious....shes happy for you because she hasnt told you about that nice early xmas present(expensive handbag) she has treated herself to!

welcome by the way :)

Caved....

Couldnt quite stretch to Alpha but upped my pledge to Founder. I dont think FD need to know that their new game wont run on a 7 year old Toshiba laptop.

AAAhhh... the relief
Just caved in too and upped to first round Beta
Does anyone know what exactly you get for going the extra £50 to be a 'Founding member of The Elite'?
Very excited like space-sim cookie-monster, me.

bear in mind that you are amongst people who played the original game on primitive rigs and were blown away by it. they, like me, saw the kickstarter and said TAKE MY MONEY because they want to see that game on a modern rig. thats why i backed the project. i didn't 'buy' access to the alpha..... its a different transaction. i backed the project to that level and as a token of appreciation fd have granted me access to the alpha stage.
