Does anyone NOT experience lag/stutter in Supercruise?

Just curious if you don't, what your system specs are, and if you've done any editing to the game's XML files to make it stop.

You can see my specs in my Sig. I am not currently experiencing any stutter, jitter or lag at all. From time to time since the Premium Beta, there have been releases that have caused me to have stutter and lag. It has always gone away within the next update or two. I have NEVER made any mods to my hardware or software to correct this issue. I fact, my specs are exactly the same as they were in the premium beta. I run at 1920 x 1080 and I get steady 72-76 fps at all times.

I suppose the stutter is originated by telemetry streaming to Frontier servers of ones ship data and instance to enable them to trace all sorts of ingame problems where player ships explode or collide without a reason when being in Supercruise.

It's completely dependent upon how busy the system is you are currently super cruizing in. SCing in LAVE, always studder. 99% of the other systems out there with fewer ships around... I get 100% fluid game play. System specs has little to do with it... My graphics card and CPU are half asleep SCing through LAVE, but I have terrible judder.

So it's not just us Oculus Rift users that are experiencing this? That's good to know. I'm running a fairly decent set-up and I could have all the graphics to Ultra recently thanks to the continued optimization of the game but for a while now (since 1.2 I think) I just can't get around in SC without massive stuttering and lag and it gets worse the longer I'm cruising and with more ships on the radar. Once into combat there are no issues not even in heavy war zones. Turning the graphics settings to minimum has no effect on the SC issue.

I get 1/2 second freezes every time I play either at the star or especially when going to a station yesterday I had 3 stops going to a 30ls station then a unable to connect to matchmaker server ED shut down and put me back in windows start screen, loaded up again and I was floating 70ls away from station , I docked and tried to cash my mission in and got unable to date mission list so I switched off and there is nothing wrong with my broadband connection or my computer it plays all other games well

Zero lag or stutter. Solo only

Just heading back from the core and all is smooth as silk.

All graphic settings on max (No SS)

I7 4770K
Geforce GTX780
8GB Ram
240 GB SSD
Win7 64b

Would you mind playing in Open mode for a while, just to see if that makes a difference? It would explain a lot of things.

Does stutter quite often.
WIndowed fullscreen mode:
i5 2500k @ factory def speed
16GB DDR3 RAM
Sapphire R9 280X 3 GB
Win7 SP1
Samsung SSD 240GB

I used to get stutter but then I re-installed my PC and added an SSD.

i7 @ ~2.7Ghz
6Gb DDR3 Tri-Channel
250Gb SSD
nVidia GTX 970
Win7 64Bit Professional

I used to get a lot of stutter when there were other ships about, especially human CMDRs. Not sure if it was a HDD access thing ( that the SSD compensates for) a CPU / threading thing (ive not been in busy space for a while ) or some other random thing that a fresh install of Windows has Fixed.

I get the odd stutter when approaching planets, but the game just outright crashes every fifth jump I make to a new system.

In fact, ED crashes more for me than star citizen does ................. which really sucks. Ed is the only game on my system that will make my brand new GTX980 kernal dump!!!!

I get the slight pausing when making a hyperjump and having recently started playing in Open I have noticed some players stuttering a bit as they move but that looks more network related as nothing else stutters at that time.

I do get some FPS drops in stations but reason is apparent below. I guess I am lucky, perhaps very lucky.

Main ED platform (laptop):
i5 460
6gb RAM
1gb Radeon 5870m
120gb boot SSD
500gb HDD (to which ED is installed)
Win 7
Runs a mixture of low and medium at 1080p, with acceptable frame rate drops in big stations. Long initial load times, around one minute.

Main computer but secondary ED platform:
i5 3570k
16gb RAM
2gb 660Ti 'SuperClocked"
120gb boot SSD
2x 2tb HDDs, with Elite on one.
Win 7
Max settings but no supersampling. 1080p, no stuttering or juddering other than the hyperjump sequence.

Same, not getting one bit of stutter, that could be due to bein 600ly from populated systems though. No USS, no stations, no Res sites, no npc's
Just beautiful empty space with many gorgeous sites to behold.

Yep that's it. At first i thought my system (i7 4.7 ghz, Radeon 290x2, OS and game are on different SSD's) can't handle the oculus rift because i allways got stutter in supercruise. In some systems not in other massive.
Then i read it is other players that ccause it so i switched to solo. That made it better but it was still here.
When i went out exploring with my asp i found out that it is the USS's that cvause the stutter.
Out there i can run max detail with active dowsnampling from 2560x1440 resolution without a single stutter or judder.

Sadly the game is not optimised and is causing this stuttering. Considering pretty much everyone notices this even with the best systems money can buy i believe it is safe to say that ppl who have "no stutter at all" are simply not very prone to noticing these.

I got a lot of bad lag in Supercruise in the Lugh system during the CG, and putting things down to the lowest possible settings (inc. resolution) did not change the lag here at all. I don't normally get any lag except for an occasional 5-6 second delay in transitioning in/out of supercruise, and the frame hitching as I approach a planet (just as it's about to come into visual range, the game can hitch for about 1-2 seconds). Once in visual range, then there may be one additional hitch as I get closer if the planet is a gas giant with rings.

Since this is a rig boasting thread now:

MSI GTX 970 4Gb
Intel Quad core Xeon 2.8ghz
24Gb RAM
240gb Samsung 840 Evo

No stuttering recently, though I did once when I went through Eravate.

I'm pretty confident that your pc has very little to do with stutters.
It's to do with your connection to the server. That doesn't necessarily mean the speed of your connection but more the number of 'hops' and negotiated 'talk' speed.
The stutters most often happen at times when there is a need for detailed info on 'the next event' such as approaching a system within a system or hyperspacing to a new system.
This has been discussed in the bug reporting forum.
I suspect that instead of a 'sub thread' being used to load the data in the background, it is almost pausing the main computational thread until a handshake is received and as several items of data are required, we the client see it as 'stutter'.
I built my system especially for ED and have tried many tweaks/changes in an attempt to get rid of the problem but nothing works/helps. However i am on a 6.5m/b connection which i cannot change.
My stutter only happens at times when i can categorically say things are 'loading' such as the first 15-20 seconds of hyperspace or when i get withing 8-7 seconds of a system of planets/moons or when i approach i station. Once i work throught those stutters the next time i approach the same items/objects i don't see the stutter which indicates the required data is already held in a 'cache'.
I'm 99.9% certain that the problem can be minimised by some alternate coding on Fdevs end.

Your card isn't handling it's over clock well. What you are describing is a common issue with people who's cards are too far overclocked. Declock your card by 100mhz and I bet it goes away... might take more than 100.
