Is open really full of unsocial griefers?

just defining things correctly.

I would add one thing to this topic and show my proffession from a wider perspective. A game world is mixed with reality enough.
A client could be not only a Elite player,
My client could be a cheated wife, employeer, mistress or old friend from eariel years of life who was bullied by a target. A Client could be everyone and target could be a player not only from Elite.
It was on game payment at now, but I consider also PayPal ;)

So beware your wifes, help them in the house, because one of them could be my client ;)

You probably shouldn't solicit your illegal revenge services in a public forum. >____>

Open isn't bad. It's not hello kitty island adventure, but it's definitely not dayz either. Some people may attack and kill for no reason, but those players are few and far between. As long as you avoid high traffic areas, you probably won't even run into a pirate, let alone a psycho killer.

Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?

It is not illegal. Illegal are assassination in real world, and this is not what i am doing ;) However, in a virtual paraller universe you can call me the "Léon" ;)
As you can see in Ian situation i have my own code, and i am not doing malicious things (i leave Ian to get payment from exploratinon), however there are people in my proffesion who are cold blooded and would not show a mercy.

More codswallop!

I've been bounty hunting around the anarchy systems near Lave lately and although once or twice I've been attacked I find most other CMDR's very friendly.

Usually what happens if I run into another bounty hunter is the initial scan of each other, like a ritual show of strength, then I send a message offering to create a wing and bounty hunt together and people always seem to accept.
I've been flying around NAV beacons in two's and three's of CMDRs I've just met and had some great fun with it. I teamed up with another Vulture the other day and is was quite satisfying to watch a 'deadly' Anaconda get taken out so quickly.
Maybe I could get more credits on my own but I couldn't have more fun and I've added a few friends over the last few days from this. It really has been a great experience.

So I'm wondering is there really that many out there, I know there is a few but it looks to me like their in the very small minority. Are the majority of CMDR's out there just good people looking to enjoy the game? Because from these forums you would get the impression it's a lot more aggressive universe.

What's other peoples experience?

Disclaimer: I am aware than flying a Vulture might skew my experience and make me less likely to be the victim of an unprovoked attack.
map is to large to worry about griefers ....

I tried to fiend pirates and griefers all night yesterday. We took a full wing, had a cunning plan and everything, and descended on Lave. Nothing. Bad luck we thought, so went to the nearby anarchy systems. Still nothing. At this point my wingmates decided to rather head back to our home-system, and do some trading and pew-pew in RES. I however headed off to the beginner systems to see if any was harassing the innocent little sidewinder-commanders. Nope. Quite the contrary, in addition to me there was also a Vulture pilot looking out for and protecting the beginners. So did not meet any hostile players. No pirates, no griefers. I did get an addition to my friends list however in that Vulture pilot :)

You can find griefers and people around that systems, where are a lot of beginner players or has very high traffic.
These systems are mainly the rare trade routes.
If you avoid these systems, Open play is not more dangerous then solo.

But you are lucky if you meet one in a month.

Sooo... Definitely hitman. Definitely NOT bounty hunter. Gotcha.

Ran into a lot of players today, well more than usual in my area and it was all good.

In fact at one point when in a conflict zone we had about five players all just doing their thing. It was all good.

Well, I thought that game play protocol was that if two commanders want to dog fight, permission would be asked.
I was enroute through a system in trhe Achenar sector, dropped out near a nav beacon, saw an NPC anaconda that was 'wanted' so attacked it. I was in Systems Panel adjusting my cargo scoop and fuel scoop, when I was attacked by three commanders. Ther combined attack meant I had no time to bug out, by the time I had got my lasers switched on, my shields had gone - even though I have A4 shields and a booster. Could not jump out and got fragged.
Most impolite of them.
First time I have noted that sort of behaviour. Cost me 750,000 in insurance excess to get my ship back.
I know the name of the commander that fired the final shot and I do not forget.

Might seem silly, but I haven't encountered a single other human player. My wife said she saw a few CMDRs at a station when she got in from an exploration run.

I play exclusively in Open.

I've never been griefed or had a negative experience with another player. I've been blown up and have blown up other players in PvP and participated in emergent gameplay, but nothing like the doomsayers around these parts would have you believe.
