Current thoughts on the Anaconda ?

The Anaconda is an all around ship, unfortunately it can be out gunned against ships such as the Vulture, FDL and Python.
Wrong. Conda will _destroy_ Vulture and Python in 1v1, and beat FDL most of the time.
A skilled pilot can get on the six of a Conda and his only option is to run or combat log.
FAoff boost-turn and nothing will stay on your six. Get good.
Not a wise choice to be caught all alone in one. If your going to use it for open pvp be smart enough to be in a wing.
I play 90% of the time alone, and can beat 5+ smaller player ships at once quite easily thank you. Most ships I fought against I think was 8, 4 of them being police (1 Anaconda rest some Vipers and Eagles), and 4 player ships in Vulture, Cobra, and Vipers.

Get good.

thoughts on the Anaconda ?
I once landed my Cobra on an Anaconda, facing its cockpit, and my thoughts while on it were "the game appears to be holding a tiny separation between us" and "I hope my mate flying the Anaconda can get a good picture of this".

My battle experience with conda goes like this......
In the NU CG had my conda flying around the system looking for human pirates. I interdicted one Python in wing with another Python and in separate interdiction one FDL in wing with a cobra. In both cases the main adversary flown away to recharge the shields (shield cell or SC) and sustained some hull damage.
The wing ship was constantly firing at me but I had enough shield cells.
My feeling is with the right outfitting this ship is a beast. Only another conda can match it....

A CMDR in a Sidey landed on my bow when I was trying out some gun combo's at a NAV. They do sit quite away of the hull, 10-20 meters or so when they set down - almost like your sitting on the shields not the ship. I could swear I screen grabbed it a the time, but I must have been mistaken.

Always mega handy to have one in your wing.

People are magnetically drawn to trying to kill Condas.

My mate Anu was flying his fully bossed out battle Conda the other day and was happily tanking an FdL,Vulture and a Clipper (He has an A8 plant in it and a full battery of A rated boosters and cells)

They were so busy spamming the Conda i just got into position behind the freight train and blasted the Vulture into breaking off and then pursued him and killed him.

With pilots of equal skill, I expect only the Federal Corvette and the Imperial Cutter to beat an Anaconda without (too) much difficulty. They'll be most likely Anaconda sized but only dedicated to combat.

I use my Anaconda for trading and in my opinion it is the best ship in that role. (T9 is a pig to fly, mind boggling slow even with A thrusters, and is constantly interdicted. Earns money faster though).

I would disagree, having recently moved from T9 to Conda.
The Conda brings the money in a fair bit faster.

Mostly due to the time saved in SC/Docking and the larger jump range.

Debate has been done to death, it's all down to your flying skill and route flown. T9 makes me a lot more credits then my Conda. I prefer to keep my Conda as an explorer/warzone frieghter. On normal routes my T9 pulls in 800,000+c per 8 minutes

There exist routes where T9 will outdo the anaconda by maybe 10-15%. There exist routes where conda will outdo the T9 (the big ones is where the conda can save 1 hyperspace jump, but also conda docks and leaves station a bit faster, regardless of flying skill level).

A sensible practical comparison is to compare these ships on the 3-5 routes you typically do, including flying from one route to another as they dry up sometimes. My experience has been that the conda generally does about as well on maybe 80% of routes, and makes many more routes viable that a T9 would avoid.

Conda is much much better on trading community goals due to the range.

I've got one of these things, and I am wondering how to outfit it. Has anyone tried to use all beam weapons on it? Is it possible to do that without overheating the ship?

Every comparison between those ships regarding trading is absolutely worthless unless you take the same route and fly it with both ships over time to get an average value.
And repeat that for every other single trading route...there are so many factors that will influence your cr/t/h.

Yes I have and it's super fun but it's not practical and overheats your ship and isn't very efficient on your capacitor.
i ran it for fun using 3 C3 beams and 2 C2 beams, it was hilarious! Once your capacitor drains which will be quickly the recharge is slightly faster than the 2 C2's can drain it's fun but not a good build at all lol.

At the moment I've got 3 C3 beams, a C4 plasma, and a bunch of multi turrets. It seems to be ok but I hate the ammo situation.

I've done it. Its a more alpha dmg focused build. Works too if you're not constantly outnumbered, because you will be sacrificing a lot of shields for it.

Here's my PvP build. LINK

This is my current build when chasing NPCs in warzones and lately RESs.
No heat issues whatsoever when constantly firing and a nice dmg-output.

Anaconda - Energy NPC hunter

edit: if using 8B powerplant, downgrade sensors, thrusters to 7B and SCBs

My Conda is bristling with beam turrets, so no effective blindspots. I have taken on fleets of up to 6 or 7 npc ships, including groups consisting of condas, vipers and cobras. Fill her with boosters and cell banks and her shield will absorb huge amounts of fire. But her real power is in her unnerving intimidation, when the unmistakable silhouette of the mighty Anaconda powers into your view then you know you've got trouble.
