Your perception of oxymoronism is due to your conflation of "equality of treatment" and "equality (in terms of being the same)". They're different things.

As far as I know it is a unique title so in that respect it's pretty good! Unfortunately it doesn't come with any *ahem* "material benefits".

Basically this thread complains about a game ignoring genders. It also complains about English lacking "female" equivalent to some words although they are actually not all dispositive of the gender, but rather neutral. So yeah we should ignore differences by making them clearly visible. How odd.
I don't care who is a dude or a girl in this game, I just see pilots. And me firing at them. Or the other way around

Thats my point, "equality of treatment" only needs to be considered when there is division. If a whole has no apparent parts, there is no need for their comparison.

I don't see why not, it sounds rather good I think.

There was a suggestion when ranks first appeared that they should replace "CMDR" in the game. But I like it better your way. And it works better with multiple ranks. You could be Duchess Chief Petty Officer Commander purplepomegranite!

Good spot OP! You would have thought that FD would have been able to recognize that, if you're commander was male or female, then your Imperial title would be either baron or baroness. How on earth can you miss that?! Basic programming really.

The beauty of science fiction and gaming is that it offers an opportunity to do away with some of the dumb old customs of the past - rather than enshrine them. This was a missed opportunity on FD's part.

So FD would re-invent English to make sure everyone can make it's gender obvious? I hope David Braben himself will complain to the British Academy. And against History.

Just because you're not outraged over something doesn't mean somebody else can't be. It's actually possible that an issue not important to you might be to somebody else.
