Exploration: 2-line Spooky Stories from the Black

The rhythmic ticking of metal heating and cooling.
Maybe it's Morse code, is the ship talking to me.
.
A small radar signature, it's metal, an alien probe?
Just another panel falling of my battered hull.
.
Something scurrying in the corner of my eyes.
Good eating tonight, going to catch me some mice.

I checked the ID on the faint distress signal... it was mine.

Sometime I wake up sharply thinking I can hear that strange eerie 'noise' black holes make... But I got away from the black hole weeks ago... I'm sure I did...

I brought the ship to a stop and just looked at the star. 10,000 light years from civilisation, when an empty suit glove slowly spiralled past my canopy...

I curled up in the corner of the cockpit hand over my face. Every jump I was coming out closer and closer to the star, I was sure of it! The next jump I was surly going to come out in the star. I can't jump again, I can't jump again!

I don't know why I did it. 25,000 light years from home I came across another Asp in the black. It sent a hail. I sent death. There would be no reprisal, no punishment. I almost felt giddy as I squeezed the triggers. It did not even have any shields. I sat and watched the wreckage tumble through space, then jumped as 'her' burned and frozen body came out of the blackness and hit the canopy. Her eyes were wide open. Her mouth in mid scream. I ran from that place, that system. But there she is again I'm sure. 60 jumps away now and I'm sure I keep seeing a body out there, small, drifting against the backdrop of a nebula or a planet. It's my imagination, my guilt, it must be... it must be... it must...

I saw a strange alien ship blocking the star field behind it, nothing on my scanner, points of light glowing faintly.
My mistake. It is the wreck of an Anaconda, some of it is still burning.

Cruising in witchspace, admiring the stars....

.....someone taps me on the shoulder. I jump out of my skin and turn.....nobody is there.

Responding to a distress beacon, I drop out of witchspace into a gravity well not unlike a planet....

...but nothing is there. Then something thumps against the ship, behind the canopy it sounds like. I crane my neck to try and see what's...........

Possibly this is a sign of oncoming space madness, but i started writing some 2-liners whilst far out in the black. Thought i would share the horror ;)

There is that glitch on the scanner again.
Sometimes it looks just like a heat signature.

-------

I catch my copilot's eye in the canopy reflection.
Has she always been there?

-------

A strange fear grips me as I enter witchspace.
Is that the sound of a child crying?

-------

I awoke to the sound of the canopy breaking once again.
Thing is, I was sure I had returned home years ago.

-------

I watch as the last of the fuel is drained.
In the distance, a yellow star sparkles in silence.

-------

I made the decision, and jettisoned the slaves.
At night I still hear the children screaming.

-------

I gazed down at the billowing clouds of a pristine ammonia world.
That was the moment that I felt the breath on the back of my neck.

-------

I hide in my seat, but I know they will find me.
They have escaped, and they are hungry.

Feel free to add more, if you are so inclined!

Just read all of these to my wife. She was so creeped out. Thanks for the tease tool :D

You see the ship, it is wanted. Only 200 credits, but 200 more then I had so I turn it into a huge satisfying fireball. Then I notice the comm channel. Please no we have woman and children onboard....
.
5000 light years out you I finally stop, no sleep no rest, but the soothing voice of 5 4 3 of the self destruct timer counting down as my only comfort as my mind screams, we have woman and children aboard......
.

Sorry 4 lines.

I've been out so long in the deep black that my computer ai has become self aware.
She won't let me go home.......

That last Nebula we passed through did something to the ship
I now hear unusual creaking from the hull and every now and then feel something crawl across my flesh

- - - Updated - - -

That last O Star did something to my vision
I'm seeing ghostly shapes of strange ships playing chicken with me every time I enter Witch Space

- - - Updated - - -

That last Ammonia World was strange, I thought I could see movement in the clouds
Ever since then I've had the strangest feeling I'm being watch. I'm hoping sleep will give me some respite

- - - Updated - - -

I've not slept in over 48 hours, my mind won't switch off
All I can see is the face on the other side of the black hole, laughing at me

I hear bumping and feel jostling, scanner and eyes reveal nothing.
The souls of the dead claw at my ship as I pass them by, they whisper "Come join us"

Nothing can live in witch space.
Yet there was this faint distress call, from a ship that went missing centuries ago.

Nothing can live in witch space.
So how do you explain those claw marks I found on the hull?
-
Nothing can live in witch space.
But it sounds like it's whispering.
-
Nothing can live in witch space.
But sometimes when I emerge, I'm not sure that I'm still alone.

Thrumm..thrumm..thrumm.. the noise is driving me crazy.
Maybe if I turn off life support I will find some peace.

Man, these really creep me out, good job CMDR's! I myself can not make any of these two liners to save my life (get it? oh never mind) they end up cliche' cheesy pieces of (self censored), much like my jokes. :)

Translating: Payments from hell's inferno? I know, i'm no fun just commenting on other people's two liners. ;)

The alien civilisation beckoned me closer to their high-oxygen & hydrogen atmosphere planet.
I didn't mean for my retro-thrusters to set their skies on fire. Truly, I didn't mean it!
