What do you think DB meant by this?

Its made me eyeball every system i come across from now on.
I have a feeling it won't show up on the ADS honk so its up to the old MK1

I do wonder what is out there, though i hope not htargoids to be honest something old...something new

Still here's hoping

It could potentially mean a great many things, but it's good to know the dedicated explorers will be the first to find out. If they make it back to spill the beans to the rest of us in one piece.

If it me, you will be out of luck.

Well I may give a fade reference of something be out there in a general direction but I certainly won't be posting screenshots or spoiling the surprise. You will have go and explore yourselfs.

There's a thing called "Pesterbot" in the game files, but I haven't been able to find it yet. It could be that it's just the hovering ad projectors in front of station entrances though.

Or

IT COULD BE THOSE DAM LITTLE WHITE PIXELS
Seriously has anyone else seen them ingame? They move when your ship canopy does in a predictable manner...
Maybe the space madness is setting in

Whats the sitrep on galaxy exploration? Whats the current percentage explored? I should imagine its quite high by now

There are still massive areas not even touched. I'm down at the Soul Nebula and there are still untouched systems here - you would of thought they would all be scanned by other CMDRs, but they are not.

Well lets assume 10000 deep space explorers for 2 months, 2.4hours per day, 1 system every minute : 8.64 * 10^7 systems

Since there are 400 * 10^9 systems, that would be ~ 0.022 %

long way to go XD

Yes, I have seen them too. I was also convinced the soul nebula looked like a face last night.... Madness indeed!

An of cause we could have miss it if people are just jumping between stars and not exploring systems or the object doesn't show up on the beginner or intermediate

From the hints I read from the Devs (and if I interpreted it correctly from today's David Braben Q&A Session) - everything is supposedly in place and was set alive with the V1.3 update 0.o

So unless I'm mistaken, all the wheels are already set in motion.

When the 1st encounter occurs... Now that's a different question.

Actually this little surprise Braben said went live in the wings update. So it already out there in the galaxy waiting for a bold adventure to find it.

This is very interesting! This and confirmation that an orrery system map is still planned was the best bit of the AMA!

I wonder if the mystery object/s are hidden in USSs, or at special named nav locations? (are the Voyager probes marked "Ancient Probes" or similar?)

Indeed, I was just giving the order of magnitude using reasonable guestimates, an upper bound of some sort.

IMO, it's quite lower, O(0.001%).

And yeah just running through is not 'true' exploring. OTOH scanning every ice balls is a total waste of time :)

I've often wondered if there might not be something on one of those small, icy moons that most of us skip over when detail scanning because we're more interested in metal-rich planets. Just sayin'.

Been there since Wings, aka 1.2

Thousands upon thousands of systems explored since then, and nobody found anything.

Sounds odd ?

What's the one scanner return every explorer ignores ?

The asteroid belts near stars. (exploration payout zero).

Just saying...
